In my own case as someone who had Where are you to Pup all coming at me at the same time, i always thought Scooby, Shaggy and Scrappy just were always that more interesting and likable then the rest of the gang. Hence why i totally loved the shorts era where it was seven minute advetures and the Superstars 10 films.
Daphne really started growing on me on 13 ghosts and that's where the interest i ever really had in a "ship" came from. As i posted elsewhere in this forum the Scooby/Shaggy/Daphne/Scrappy years were the series that i saw the least of in my youth, so as i get to see more of them, my opinions of those years (and by virtue Daphne too) have been upgraded.

Please enjoy your ship, whatever it is, or none if you prefer. But please don't force your ship on others. I hope this wasn't directed at me... Yes and no as it includes all who like to ship a particular paring. It was a plea for a more inclusive and gentle approach to recent rash of shaphne/fraphne/whatever discussions that have appeared on the site. What we don't want is a 'ship war' where one party strongly asserts the primacy of their ship over others and demanding that others justify why they think differently which in turn causes others to defend their ship in more strident terms which elicits a response and so it goes on into a sprawling mess of sock-puppets, histrionics and hyperbole. Such a event is very unsettling and destabilising to a forum, we had a similar incident a year or ago which started in similar circumstances and I would not like to see it repeated again.

Yeah, I stumbled through during that mess. It was very uncomfortable and kept me away until recently when I decided it was a friendly enough place to join. Hostility and harsh words are very off putting, especially for new members who may not have posted yet.

i've never really been interested in 'shipping' any of the characters, because thats not what the show is about. its a group of well intentioned meddling kids who go around the country solving mysteries and stopping bank robbers, con men, and art thieves.

Shipping existed in SD since Where Are You, only in smaller amounts. These got heavier when WB took a more teenage approach to the show.

Agreed that was an uncomfortable time and many members either left entirely or kept away for a good while until it died down, myself included, at the end of the day the main thing is that everyone feels comfortable and remains part of the community, with no wars occurring over something so silly, the show is about 4 kids and a dog driving around solving mysteries and having a great time while doing it, that's the joy of the show.

The "problem" is that Scooby has changed. MI really added shipping as a whole plot point. While Scooby got the softer edge until the Superstars 10 and from there on it went up, but still not overshadowing the fun. The most of the non-CN influenced has gone is in Stage Fright where it became a side-plot, but that same side-plot was quickly thrown back into minor gag in the next film.
However another part i'm not liking is more people pressing on about the fun just being before shipping. What about those of us that liked the changes to the format all the same if not better? That was a part of the fun for some of us, as much as the original format was the fun to some people and as much as the shipping is the fun to the MI fanatics.
I think we as Scooby fans should be able to let everyone speak equally on what they like best. No need to let it devolve into feuds, we should be able to defend what parts of the franchise we like/don't like in a civil manners. After all if we all have our opinions we should have valid reasons why we feel the way we do or why we infer what we do or do not. I would think we should be able to keep civil conversations on any such matter. And at the very least we can just agree to disagree on matters that are clearly up to interpretation,

I'd like to apologize then. It was only a genuine question out of curiosity. I just wanted to know who liked what ship and what their history was with that specific pairing, as in if they always saw it like that, or only recently cared for shipping like myself. I'm not opposed to Fraphne or Shelma or whatever. I don't hate characters for being paired up with each other and because Shaphne isn't canon. I was just curious, and I was hoping for friendly discussions and responses on everyone's history with a specific pair, or even why they don't care for romance on the show. I'm a Scooby fan first and foremost, and a Shaphne fan second. It won't kill me if we never see the two together again and other romances continue to bloom, because I like the mystery-solving/adventure aspects of the show more than anything.

I do think the site can have discussions about 'ships with differing opinions without it becoming a hostel war ground. Same can be said for a plethora of other hot topics like cannon or the existence of Scrappy. We have a good community here, but of course there are going to be a few bumps in the road....but nothing that we can't get past when needed. I speak for all the Admins and staff here when I say we don't want ANYONE to feel attacked, or that their opinions are being belittled, or that it's not a fun place to be anymore. It sounds to me that you guys feel the same way, which is why we do have a good GREAT gang of meddling fanatics here

Personally, I believe either pairing could be possible, if handled correctly by the writers, as shown in SDWAY and the 13 Ghosts. However, with the direction the writers are taking today, Fraphne is endgame, well, currently anyway, only because of its popularity, and it is not being handled properly in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I still appreciate the pairing, as well as tolerate it, just not in the current incarnations. Shaphne, on the other hand, was presented in such a subtle way that I can enjoy it, no matter what series. I do see them as close friends, no doubt about that. Daphne liked Shaggy enough as a friend (or romantically, but that's speculation) to go along with him in the 13 Ghosts. Platonic or romantic, their relationship overall is endearing.

I liked both once upon a time, in the 90s flicks I thought they did it's best work with Fred / Daph but as time wore on, in some of the newer films and latest series it's kind of been over doing it and in my opinion changing Daph's character for worse, I thought the 90s films and or What's New Scooby? series / films did the pairing better without making Daph look like a Fred fan girl and nothing more Over all, after re watching the 80s series and Myster Inc final I like the Shaggy / Daph pairing better.

I'm all for fraphne, they've been my "otp" since i was a young child, and even now they still are now. So of course I voted fraphne, I love them so much. But don't get me wrong i'm pro shaphne too, i ship that pretty hard as well, but seriously i don't think anything could overtake fraphne for me ever, even other ships i love on other tv shows and movies that i'm more invested in (like ian and mickey from shameless and gleggie and baethyl from the walking dead). I've grown up with fraphne and they're extra special to me because of that.
wow that was kinda sappy and lame haha.

I think it's great that you also like Shaphne, considering how much you love Fraphne! I myself liked Fraphne back in the day, before I became a Scooby addict.

I ship for one reason: they are my favorite characters. When you have favorite characters naturally you want to pair them up. Hence why I ship Shaphne.

I do that too sometimes but other times it doesn't really work like that. I'm going to use 5 Seconds of Summer as an example, really teenager approach but what do you expect coming from a teenager, so my two favorite members are Ashton and Michael right, however I don't ship them together. I ship Lashton (Luke and Ashton).
