I'm not opposed to the whole Shaggy/Velma relationship, if Velma was a bit nicer to Shaggy, and not always making him think that he needs to change every single thing about himself that makes Shaggy himself, maybe it would be a bit better. What I do hate though is that people are alienating them being together saying "IT'S THE WORST THING POSSIBLE." If they'd just give the series a chance, instead of on the first episode saying "I hate Shaggy and Velma being together", they'd find it's not as horrible as they think. It's only the first 13 episodes, don't immeadiately scream "I HATE IT."

Had to think about this one a while before posting. I actually don't think people are all that opposed to Shaggy & Velma, any more than they are to Fred and Daphne. I think what's actually driving the divided opinions on their respective relationships is the way they've been handled on the show. Not so much the relationships themselves. With the exception of Fred simply being boneheaded about the whole thing... ...their relationship has been portrayed onscreen in a fairly unobtrusive manner, so people are okay with it. Shaggy & Velma on the other hand have been portrayed in a manner that invites controversy & divided opinion, and thus that's what we see in reviews and postings. Which is cool actually, because obviously that seems to be what the creators intended. If Shaggy & Velma had been handled in a more casual and simply humorous manner, I doubt people would seem anymore opposed to it than they are Fred & Daphne. Which would also be fairly boring. And SD:MI isn't trying to be boring or simply repeat an existing Scooby formula. Personally I hope they continue the Shaggy-Velma relationship to a more logical conclusion than to just end it cold. That would be a complete waste of a fairly major 13 episode plot thread. It may be rough viewing at times until they get there, but in the end would be a more interesting story once all is said and done and known. More interesting for example than the way "Curse Of The Lake Monster" handled the same subject, which ended up seeming somewhat pointless & unsatisfying. That's not meant to be a slam on CotLM, but if you're going to go down a particular creative path, then make the most of it. Mark Excellent point. I don't want my time wasted by this, which is why I'm suspecting that it'll be visited again this season (I hope).

Good points you have ahkyahnan. I agree they definitely went about it in a way that made a lot of people mad by having Velma want to change everything about Shaggy. Many people do hate the Shaggy/Velma relationship...Scott Innes being one of the people who hates it...and many Scooby fans. I am not so into it, probably more because of how Velma treated Shaggy, but I still love the series! It's true, doo, that people should give it a chance.

I don't like it because there's no good reason for it. Just because the group has two guys and two girls doesn't mean they have to date each other. I'm not trying to offend anyone but it's almost child-like to want to see a male and female character get together just for the sake of it. Like on ben 10, if Gwen was not Ben's cousin you'd see a lot of people "shipping" them but for what reason? Because they're opposite genders? I do not think that is a good enough reason.

To tell the truth, i'm kind of ignoring the Shaggy/Velma not working out thing in this series. They are a good couple, and I think they will get together but because the current series is so good, i'm concentrating more on thinking about the mystery of Crystal Cove and the story arc and how that's going to be resolved then thinking about the romance stuff for now.
Although this does bring up something interesting I thought of; while it might be a little off topic, I thought it would be interesting to talk about:
This is the first series where we've seen extended glimpses into the gang's love lives; while some of the movies and singular episodes of past series had the gang dating other people or being attracted to other people, I wouldn't mind seeing extended glimpses of the gang's love lives, like maybe a flashback episode here and there or story here and there of the members dating other people outside the group, or people they meet during the mysteries.
Just for a different change of pace type of thing; like I came up with a few examples that would be good: Shaggy(or Fred possibly, it doesn't really matter) hanging out with or dating or spending some time with Sharon Whetherby, or Lisa(the owner of the hotel where the gang caught the vampire in the Scooby Doo Show), or Arlene Wilcox.
I wouldn't mind seeing a few things like that, and you could even go both ways, you could have the girls dating another guy outside the group. Like Daphne hanging out with Alex(from the Mamba Wamba episode) or Velma hanging out with somebody that she was attracted to, like Beau from Zombie Island.
I know all this might be off topic, but I just thought I would bring it up; just for the heck of it.

May I assume you're the same nickle98499 who has his own blog on his thoughts on SD:MI? If so, it's me, SG! Spoiler alerts! If you've seen "The Wild Brood", then you'd know Daphne and Velma ditched Fred and Shaggy, if only for a very short while, to hang out with the ork gang. I agree with you on Velma and Shaggy somewhat. In "Where Walks Aphrodite", I think Shaggy wasn't quite sincere in trying to say he didn't feel anything for Velma while they were under the villain's spell. He seemed really uncomfortable with wanting to talk about it. I'm really wanting to know about "Dragon's Secret". How will Velma react to Mi-Lee being attracted to Shaggy and vice versa? How will Scooby? If Scooby gives her a pass, I'll be ticked off at him for that, since he didn't do the same for Velma. Scooby to me had been given his own free pass by some people for being selfish with Shaggy, and that needs to be addressed.
