Just watched this episode on Itunes, and it was just an OK episode. Not very Scooby like at all, no monster, just two evil guys trying to steal "The Maltese Mackerel." And at the end, it was a cliffhanger! They never found where the Maltese Mackerel was hidden. 2/5.
Btw, does anyone know where I can watch the original intro? It's not on Itunes.

The original intro is in FunnierMoments.com. It's the classic Scooby and Scrappy theme. I liked this episode. A nice spy story, but the end was indeed a cliffhanger.

The Richie Rich episode "The Maltese Monkey", was also aired in the 1982-83 season, but the only difference is, the monkey got reclaimed and two thugs were arrested. It had Richie explain the mystery like Velma Dinkley normally would, and is likely the only Zillion Dollar Adventures segment to entirely revolve around a Scooby-Doo style plot. That episode was probably better than "Maltese Mackerel" as it ended on a good note, with no cliffhanger.
"The Maltese Mackerel" was later rebroadcast on "Scooby's Mystery Funhouse", if I recall. I think the two aforementioned segments were likely based on the 1940s film "The Maltese Falcon".

Im so glad that at least they don't just bump into random baddies anymore. I love the fact that they work for an agency now, it just adds character to the show
