Having seen people comment on how Scooby-Doo villains' masks being very realistic and expressive for regular full-head rubber masks, I thought I'd counter with this. Generally they are thinking of your average full-head vinyl of latex mask that can be bought at a Halloween or party shop for $20 - $50, and those typically aren't as expressive (though I know a few that can be somewhat realistic.) BUT, if you want to go the extra mile, you would need silicone or foam latex. Chances are this is what many Scooby-Doo villains used. Silicone ones are usually the best kind, and are more realistic, but REALLY expensive. Here are some good companies that make such masks: www.compositeeffects.comwww.spfxmasks.comwww.immortalmasks.comHere are a few pictures of them in action, being modeled by a friend of mine with a whole bunch of them. They have expressive features and realistic moving mouths too: Sometimes foam latex can be just as effective, but usually you may need spirit gum or some other kind of adhesive for the best effect. One good company that makes them is: www.greylandfilm.com(The gargoyle isn't foam latex but is still pretty realistic.) So anyway this should answer some people's questions about the Scooby-Doo monster masks, and the answer isn't always cartoon logics (especially compared to the "realistic" shows like "What's New, Scooby-Doo?" and SD:MI.)

Ok, those are just AWESOME! I think I need one or two of them and a really good real estate scheme (no meddling kids allowed)

I was already aware that masks like this do exist in the real world. And I have thought about them exactly the same you are: "this is what many Scooby-Doo villains used". Yep, I've said that!! Thanks for making a thread about this and posting pictures!

Wow, this is pretty cool! It also makes Scooby Doo's villains a lot more realistic. As a kid, I always found it funny when the mask looked nothing like the person underneath it, but now it makes sense. xD
