Most shows do not focus on actual places, but Winona is an actual place in Mississippi. Does anyone know any background on why the episode was set there?

I don't know why they set the show in Winona. The What's New series seems to set their episodes in real places as well. Maybe one of the writers is from Winona? I'll try to dig up some info on it. Maybe someone else has some more info.

I don't know why either. Maybe it is just a coincidence. Is the town in the show like the town in real life?

I know what the one in the show is like, but I don't know about the one in real life. Would a real town be known for being windy?

This episode was one of the best. Speed Buggy and Mystery Inc. make a great team, I would like to have seen more of them.

Unfortunately I have no background on why this episode was set in Winona but I definitely feel like this was the best NSDM episode, though. I absolutely loved seeing the Scooby-gang interacting with the Speed Bugs! Aside from Scooby-Doo, Speed Buggy is one of my favorite cartoons; it, Scooby and JatPC all pretty much had the same formula but there were enough differences that it didn't really matter. Speedy is the best little car around and I found myself just going "aww" at many of Speedy and Scooby's interactions. It's so funny that Scooby doesn't really know what to make of Speed Buggy at the beginning. I also loved watching Tinker and Shaggy interacting because I always felt like Tinker was the Shaggy of the Speed Bugs and it was nice to see two of my favorites becoming friends in front of me. I just really loved seeing Debbie, Mark, Tinker and Speedy getting along and solving a mystery with my beloved Scooby gang and I honestly wished these two groups had had more crossover episodes; it would have been epic.

Really good episode. Much like with Josie, paring Speed Buggy with Scooby was a stroke of genius. The pairings made sense too, Shaggy and Tinker in particular had some pretty great reactions with each other, and the overall feel of the episode was very good. As a piece of entertainment, it's quite enjoyable!

I wish New Scooby-Doo Movies had gotten one more season where they could have had a chance to meet the Funky Phantom.

Actually, I wish they could have just kept it going until 1975 when the started to turn the series into the Scooby-Doo Show.
