Daphne became a celebrated journalist, stuntwoman and pilot.
Fred became a successful mystery author.
Velma became a valued employee of NASA.
Shaggy became a wildly popular race car driver, in addition to being a teacher, as well as the only member of Mystery Inc. to actually become a private investigator (well, besides Scooby, who was also a P.I.).
And, if one considers the Yabba shorts to take place at the end of Scrappy's canonical timeline (which I'm inclined to believe since there's nowhere else they could fit), even he becomes a deputy Sheriff.
I actually enjoy how drastically different everyone's paths were, and that they were all successful (contrary to how Zombie Island portrayed Velma as bored with her life, and Shaggy and Scooby as complete failures). I wish more titles would call back to these career paths instead of trying to erase them (Zombie Island, Curse of the 13th Ghost, etc.).

My favorite would be Daphne’s. She really proved that she is not just there to “look good” and be a damsel in distress but that can handle the mysteries just as well as Velma or Fred. It also just showed her love for what the gang did when she was back with Shaggy and the dogs from the New Scooby and Scrappy Doo Show and on

Daphne's character arc was amazing and I wish they would have explored it for longer (same with the Zombie Island era evolution of her character).

Those 2 Daphne evolutions are quite possibly the 2 best examples of character development in Scooby Doo

Yall already know my answer is Daphne. I love how in just about every canon, she's the one taking the most initiative in her life's path. Shaggy has a lot of things happen to him, but he just seems to wanna chill. Daphne, on the other hand, actively seeks out adventure.

And here I thought I was going to be unique: Daphne. But let me explain, in the '80s she really broke out of her shell-- and it's really a bigger deal than even Mook-era Daphne when you consider it. While still the same Daphne we've always known and loved, without Fred and Velma she learned to take-charge more often and adopted the true spirit of the '80s by becoming a reporter, spy, etc. Basically whatever needed done, she was ready for the challenge. Along with all that, Heather North did a fantastic job of voicing her during this period and I really don't think we've had a better VA since.

Shaggy, because they chose an end for him that was a truly fun and fitting way that the character deserved. And Scrappy 'cause he's my favorite

I think both Daphne and Shaggy had such great evolutions in the 80's.
Daphne, as many have said before, probably had the biggest transformation. She really gained more of a personality and, with Velma and Fred gone, definitely had more time to show what she was made of.
Shaggy also had a notable evolution though as other characters dropping off made Shaggy have to fill more roles. Accidental clue finding became more intentional and, while still a "scaredy cat", an admiral determination was added to counter balance accountability type characters like Fred and Velma who were now absent.
Velma and Fred's 'evolutions' were more extensions of what we already knew about those characters and didn't really come as any great shock or weren't indicative of major character development. Whereas Shaggy gained dimension and Daphne arguably gained actual character, it seemed more that Velma and Fred never really changed.

Yes Shaggy is hard to write because he SEEMS like he's easy to write because he has so many trademark characteristics, but the real test is making those quirks flow into an actual character rather then just taking shortcuts.

My favorite we're Shaggy and Daphne, the older shows to 80s did a great job writing Shaggy in my opinion. He's still my favorite but I liked that version the best, they gave him different jobs and added layers like look at his character in 13 ghosts. I loved Daphne the best, they really wrote her best in the 80s and Zombie Island days and my favorite What's New Scooby Doo? Than yah.

My one problem with Zombie Island is that it erased so much of what came before instead of properly adapting it while changing just enough to fit the new story. Fred and Velma could have still had successful careers of their own and met up with the (now married) Shaggy and Daphne for a nice reunion set up by Shaggy, and gone from there.
I really love the path Daphne had in the 80s, but WB seems to want to pretend those days didn't exist.

Yes! Zombie Island is definitely a bar but it didn't have to completely erase the character development and relationships that were built in the 80's.

Yeah, there's a definite division line within the Scooby franchise from pre-Zombie Island to post-Zombie Island.
While Zombie Island is a fine movie, I wasn't a big fan of some of the liberties it took or the series history it up and ignored.
