Wow this episode was something else. One of the best villains hands down. Aside from the design, the little dance it does when stealing the key was just fantastic. The setting being in a hardware store was pretty good, and the door scene was one of my favorites. There were only two things I didn't like in this episode (although it still ranks pretty high for me). The worst to me was Velma's mansplaining joke. Seriously guys, just not a tasteful joke for a cartoon. The second thing is really nit-picky, but Sean Astin's design is kinda bland. Not to be rude, but Sean is a bit heavier set in real life. While I don't think his design was as bland as that of Jason Sudeikis, I think the prototype we found from Stephen Silver would have been a lot better. On a final, more positive note; if any of the actual celebrities were to join the gang, it'd have to be Sean. His personality worked seamlessly with the gang.

I thought it was going to be a great episode judging from the first minutes but it fell flat and bland for the rest of it, aside from a few great jokes like the mansplaining one, which is great for a cartoon cuz it makes it more enjoyable for adults too. Sean Astin was probably one of the worst guest stars.. I swear to God, if I hear 'ring of key' one more time.... so obnoxious. Daphne and Fred at least had more screen time and the monster was cool. I love how Scooby's explanation included the height and weight of the monster and how Shaggy and him made a squeaky toy sound when being grabbed by the monster, it made it more entertaining, like a Teen Titans Go bit.

I just finished watching this and felt similarly to Peralaan. The episode had an amazing villain and Sean was a great guest star. I loved the fact that he's just living Lord of the Rings even after he finished his role in the film haha. I liked the hardware store as a setting more than I thought I would. I also agree with Peralaan that the "mansplaining" joke felt forced in and cringey.

Wow, this time the turned out to be a blatantly obvious suspect instead of who seems to be the most innocent!

Wow, this time the turned out to be a blatantly obvious suspect instead of who seems to be the most innocent! Still think this episode should have been titled little hardware shop of horrors. Hey, that could be a fun title too, but I think they wanted the title to contain a small reference to "Lord of the Rings." Maybe if it was in another show that wasn't guest-starring Sean Astin, then they could use that title...
