Pardon me, as I'm horrible at posting links and such, (notice my lack of cool avatar?), but I'm always on the lookout for a really neat book that covers the art and history of Scooby Doo. I came across a book on amazon entitled "Scooby Doo: An Insight Mini Classic". The author is Jerry Beck, It'll be released on 9/23/08, in hardcover for 9.95. It's only 48 pgs in length, but this guy has done other books on Hanna-Barbera and Looney Tunes, so, it sounds promising. I'm gonna try to dig a little deeper, and see if I can get further details on this. If I had my way, I'd like to see a 30 dollar coffee-table book, chock full of matte paintings and villan sketches used in the 70's. That's not so much to ask, is it? T.

You could try "Dreams Doo Come True" by Scott Innes. It's about Scott Innes' life, but since Scooby was one of his major characters, I'm sure there is a lot in there about the old Scoobster. I do own the book, my husband got it from Scott directly, who autographed it for me. I am sad to say I haven't read it yet. But I do plan on reading it soon. You can buy the book through Scott at scottinnes.com/store.html.

Once I read it, I'll post a review of it here. It's not a long book, so I don't know what I'm waiting for. It's not easy to read when you have kids though. Maybe I'll have my oldest read it to me!

Ok, so I felt compelled to read the book today. All 112 pages of it. My youngest was napping and the other kids were occupied with sidewalk chalk and paint. It was a great book! ;D It deals with Scott's life as he became Scooby-Doo. There is so much information in the book. And he tells about so many great people who had a role in Scooby in one way or another. If you are looking for a book that is strictly about Scooby and the gang, this isn't it. This book goes through Scott's life, how Scooby impacted his life, how he got the role, how he uses Scooby to impact other people's lives, and some other info about him. I really liked the book, and it was an easy read. It didn't take long at all to read cover to cover.
Scott has had an amazing life, he's met amazing people, and he's got such a great story to tell. Who wouldn't have a great story if they were the voice of Scooby-Doo?

Once I started it, I was hooked and just couldn't put it down. He is so lucky that he got to meet the greats like Mel Blanc, Don Messick, William Hanna, Joe Barbera, Iwao Takamoto... I never got to actually meet the people I intervewed, but they did at least answer my questions.
