the dark mastering actually makes it feel spookier I agree strongly here. It’s kinda unsetting to watch. It makes for a different experience watching the episode and I really like it

I might be able to alter the contrast on my tv to match it. It's stuff like this that makes digging into old releases fun!
The first InuYasha bluray release got a bit of heat for the colors being too bright and sorta washed out/off. It's interesting how many different stages the same video footage can go through. A old show called Mighty Max had its theme song equalized completely different from how it sounded on tv. Same song, but the bass was far boom-ier on tv. Certain little animations were sometimes changed too, and I'm not sure why. I know other countries regulate certain things, and I've heard that TMNT actually had all the weapons edited out in some countries. I don't mean to get off topic, but it's interesting.

It's really got me interested in keeping an eye out there in those types of places for other old VHS's (hopefully some Scooby Doo) for a decent price. Speaking of which, I've made an eBay VHS purchase for a package of both an Aloha Scooby Doo VHS, and a really old Kids Klassics Scooby Doo High Rise Hair Raiser VHS. I got it for the High Rise Hair Raiser one (the other options for this one on there are at least $60 just for the one VHS!) so I found this MUCH better price with an Aloha Scooby Doo vhs thrown in as an added bonus. Super curious to see another episode and if it looks the same as No Face Zombie Chase Case. It would be awesome watching that episode like that. I also purchased the Wedding Bell Boo's VHS so similar to Halloween Hassle at Dracula's Castle, I'm finally just glad to own that one physically considering they are both among the great Scrappy episodes

Nice, yes. I didn't realize High Rise was on VHS. First time I ever saw it was on DVD.

I was doing research on VHS by going through every episode's release on our friend Doo's website (https://scoobysnax1.weebly.com/episode-releases-database.html which is a really helpful tool) when I found that one. A lot of those old VHS's can't even be found for even really expensive prices

Doo runs the ScoobySnax website? What?! Great website. I had no idea.
I have Halloween Hassle, but that's it for VHS. A lot of mine have either worn out (recorded tapes) or just been lost, sadly.

That's fascinating! They really did master them darker for the older tapes. Thanks for the shots.
