I was searching the internet and found a picture of Heather North in the recording booth for this movie. The scene with Daphne and Chris was originally done with Heather North. They let Heather go after a day. Do any of you think they should've kept Heather and not recast? Or do you think the recasting worked?

Yeah they should have kept North. At least until 2003.

I thought Mary Kay Bergman did very well in the film, personally. That said, it would have been interesting having Heather North play Daphne in it. Bergman's husband mentioned the producers wanted someone more "sophisticated" and "sensible" than North's take on the character, so I take it they felt she didn't fit this rendition. I had no idea she was once considered to play her in this movie, so thank you for making this thread!

If they felt that she wasn't sophisticated and sensible enough, why would they bring her in to record anything at all?

Beats me. Just quoting what they said, those aren't my words. I just thought it would be interesting to add in case anyone could elaborate further.

Interesting and welcome to the forum Creeper1! I would say the recasting worked well, even though I did love Heather North.

I mean, they did bring North back for the one Vampire movie. But she did have a more laid back role in the film. In Zombie Island, Daphne was supposed to have sort of a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" feel, I believe. She's more assertive than North and does karate, hosts a television show, etc. The fact that Kasem was gone too, it probably just worked well for the feel, even though it does make me wonder what could have been. Just like with the new Scoob film, how they ditched some obvious choices for "fresher" VAs. Bergman was basically at her peak during this time, doing everything from Disney Princesses to literally every female on South Park, which makes me wonder if she voices anyone else other than Daphne in Zombie Island.
