This was a pretty good episode. the scenarios at the motel were truly creepy. the guest stars were good and funny. their puppets were also funny. I liked the mystery very much since it is something uncommon a mystery of this kind. The devilish doll was also creepy. My favorite scenes were in the house of the motel caretakers they seemed really strange very good designs. those rooms were very creepy with those pictures and dolls everywhere. I loved that the guest stars never understood that scooby was a real talking dog and they thought shaggy put the voice on scooby. the final scene in which the guest stars gave scooby a voice was fun. It was a great recurring joke of the episode and a great mystery quite memorable. It was great to see that performance of shaggy and scooby acting as puppeteer and puppet respectively. the puppets of the guest stars acted as more secondary characters, and talked and made jokes about their puppeteers. there was a scene of shaggy and scooby in the motel in their room and the doll appeared and the light went out all that scene was spooky and beautiful visually worthy of a horror movie. It's a different episode, the mystery is quite innovative and uncommon, that's why I loved this episode. That was definitely a more original and one of a kind take on a Scooby-Doo episode. I enjoyed it. Loved the settings and the creepy doll design. The guest stars were meh

This was definitely the creepiest episode so far. Crazy Carl was a super creepy villain, especially when he was following them all around town and popping up in their motel at night. Tons of classic horror elements were used in this episode, which I loved! I thought the running gag of everyone thinking Scooby was a dummy got a tiny bit old after a while. I thought it was interesting that Simone was used again in this episode. This is the third time she's been a minor character in an episode. The old lady and her son (who reminded me of Lurch) were super creepy too, and the chase scene with them only amped up the spook-factor for me. I didn't like that they used the door gag again in this episode, it's getting quite old now. The guest stars were decent as well, though I thought Jeff Dunham in particular was very underutilized in the episode.

This episode gave me some real Goosebumps "Night of the Living Dummy" vibes, along with a bit of the "Child's Play" movies. Heh, Darci's rabbit puppet Petunia is cute in cartoon form.
During the motel scenes, a couple of times I heard one of those classic Disney Castle Thunder sound effects (like they used in many of their animated features up until after the mid-80s!) Before this the only other times I've heard Advantage Audio use it was in a couple of "TUFF Puppy" episodes. Now if only they could use it in one of the many Disney shows they work on, like in that newer "Mickey Mouse" series of shorts... And then when the spooky hotel clerk unlocks the room door I heard a classic Hanna-Barbera door lock sound effect! Nice touch with the little details. And then of course we get a "Psycho!" reference, since it involves motels!
The reversal on the clown dummy act was funny, too. I guess the writing staff forgot Shaggy could do some ventriloquism in the older shows ("Help! Let me out of this pot!") Nice touch in having Crazy Carl's puppeteer wear a black Kuroko puppeteer suit to practically vanish when the house lights are off. We went with kind of a similar approach when my college's theater company put on Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" earlier this year and four girls in the ensemble wore black cloaks when operating the wolf puppets I designed and help build for the woods scenes. Even "Sesame Street" has occasionally used similar techniques for some Muppet segments (like Bert's "Doin' the Pigeon.")
The closing credits said Matthew Lillard voiced the security guard, but he sounded more like John Dimaggio to me. (I could definitely hear John's Bender voice in the security guard.)
