Sites have added Scooby marathons of the older series for this weekend's Boomerang lineups. This is a rather notable change given that older series have been out of rotation on tv for a while.
This is one of those things that isn't that surprising given we knew AT&T's long term plans were going to use back catalog programs in some form. But we still haven't seen big rearrangement announcements of the tv channels and won't until after HBO Max is here. This is one of those small little tweaks to remind us this isn't over yet.

Since you're an expert on this stuff, what will happen to the Boomerang app when HBO Max goes up?

Why does that second link say Scrappy-Doo is Scooby's son? Yikes...

Very interesting. On a slightly related note, I wonder if Boomerang will be airing the Looney Tunes short "Fast and Furry-Ous" next Sunday? Because they're going to be showing the Tom and Jerry direct-to-video movie with basically the same title made by the very same studio 56 years apart!

My prediction on the solo apps is going to remain that they will keep them if they make enough money to justify keeping them as solo options. If they are not doing that, I expect them to be shuttered and just worked into HBO Max. But I have no idea what AT&T is going to consider "good enough" there. So I think it could go either way.
I do have one theory I think is looking like a serious option going forward. That all the WB studios may not be making content for just one network or HBO Max in the future. And rather they are all making content for AT&T and they might move from channel to channel and service to service. We've seen the lines breaking down between TBS, TNT and Trutv. I commented a lot about how a lot of people see the CN/Boomerang/AS/Toonami splits as being outdated thinking. I think it's a reasonable theory that the reason there have only been slow tweaks on the channels rather than any abrupt announcements is that the "new way" forward is going to be a more fluid division. The major question unanswered if this is the case, is whether they feel the need to keep all the feeds they currently have or will they want to eliminate a few.
I'd keep an eye out for other things like this popping up on Turner channels as we get closer to HBO Max. They are still tinkering there could be more surprises on the way.

Why does that second link say Scrappy-Doo is Scooby's son? Yikes... Clueless soccer moms who know nothing about Scrappy probably typed in the description.
