When I started investigating the various incarnations of Scooby-Doo more than a decade ago, I noticed that there was some uncertainty about the episode order in the first two seasons of The Scooby-Doo Show. Let us focus on the first one.
The order according to the DVD set The Sccoby-Doo!/Dynomutt Hour: The Complete Series:
1. High Rise Hair Raiser - September 11, 1976
2. The Fiesta Host is an Aztec Ghost - September 18, 1976
3. The Gruesome Game of the Gator Ghoul - September 25, 1976
4. Watt a Shocking Ghost - October 2, 1976
5. The Headless Horseman of Halloween - October 9, 1976
6. Scared a Lot in Camelot - October 16, 1976
7. The Harum-Scarum Sanitarium - October 23, 1976
8. The No-Face Zombie Chase Case - October 30, 1976
9. Mamba Wamba and the Voodoo Hoodoo - November 6, 1976
10. A Frightened Hound Meets Demons Underground - November 13, 1976
11. A Bum Steer for Scooby - November 20, 1976
12. There's a Demon Shark in the Foggy Dark - November 25, 1976
13. Scooby-Doo, Where's the Crew? - November 27, 1976
14. The Ghost That Sacked the Quarterback - December 4, 1976
15.The Ghost of the Bad Humor Man - December 11, 1976
16. The Spirits of '76 - December 18, 1976
This appears to be the broadcast order and it seems certain that it was also the order in which the episodes were produced. For instance, the first six ones do not feature any music from the original 1969 series (although "Scared a Lot in Camelot" did have at least one cue from The New Adventures of Huckleberry Finn).
Let us now have a look at another order, which seems to have been used for syndication:
1. A Bum Steer For Scooby
2. The Gruesome Game of the Gator Ghoul
3. The Spirits of '76
4. The Ghost of the Bad Humor Man
5. The No Face Zombie Chase
Case
6. Scooby Doo, Where's the Crew?
7. The Fiesta Host is an Aztec Ghost
8. Watt A Shocking Ghost
9. There's a Demon Shark In the Foggy Dark
10. Scared A lot in Camelot
11. The Headless Horseman of Halloween
12. The Harum Scarum Sanitarium
13. High Rise Hair Raiser
14. A Frightened Hound Meets Demons Underground
15. The Ghost that Sacked the Quarterback
16. Mamba Wamba and the Voodoo Hoodoo
Funnily enough, this order also makes sense! "A Bum Steer for Scooby" has Velma losing her glasses in a throwback to the original series, the Scooby-Dum appearances are in the correct order and the last episode has the feel of a backdoor pilot.
Does anyone have any explanation for this discrepancy?
