And now the Mystery Machine is back, as if it hadn't blown up in the last episode! ("URRRRKELLLLLLL!!!") I guess it's not going to have much of a continuity...
Oooh, the guest star calls the gang "meddling kids" during the first scene of the episode! Nice touch.
Heh, when the old lady's car pulled up, they used that actual H-B "Dave and Edward tire skid," instead of the sound-alike from the Premiere Edition library WB usually prefers to use on reboots/revivals of the H-B properties! And then I heard "Castle Thunder" (the 70s-80s H-B version) accompany the random dramatic lightning during the lady's story! Usually Advantage Audio avoids it like the plague!
Jim making fun of their Mystery Machine, calling it an "ancient van," was pretty funny. Though I think the Mystery Machine in this series may be a somewhat newer model than the older shows, judging by the windows on the back doors and with there also being back seats and the rocket boosters we see later. His commenting on how the gang is more freaked out by "pretend ghosts" than a talking dog made me laugh, too. So far, I'm enjoying a lot of the guest stars in this series. Even Steve Urkel had some funny moments last week! Fred scolding Shaggy, Scooby and Jim with pulling the Mystery Machine over was funny, too!
I still love how all the incidental and background characters have a late 60s/early 70s Iwao Takamoto-esque design to them. And ANOTHER classic H-B sound effect when Jim crashes in his Calzone-mobile, with a couple of Hanna-Barbera crashing effects. And then I hear an old H-B explosion sound effect when the milkshake machine blows its' top! Now THIS is more like it! And more H-B car skidding sound effects? Wow, whoever's doing the sound editing for this episode really knows how to emulate the classic H-B feel...
Is it just me, or does the guest star in many episodes often get paired with Shaggy and Scooby-Doo? Not that there's anything wrong with it, though...
I called it, I knew Bill Rowdy was going to be the monster, and I was right yet again! I wonder what would happen if Mystery Inc. had ME join them on a case? And when was the last time the villain's true identity was voiced by Frank Welker, either? (He did Bill's real voice, but not when he was in the Spectral Speedster suit and mask.)
Wow, this series seems to be getting better and better for me! It just might soon tie with SD:MI as my favorite Warner Bros. Animation Scooby-Doo series...

I like the Shaphne/Frelma hints in the third image.

Anyone notice the villain kind of looks like Red Herring?

Ugh, not only did we have yet another guest who I had absolutely no idea who he was, but the villain costume looks like it came from a lost episode of Pup than it does from a mainstream Scooby sow.
I did like the setup other than that however.

Anyone notice the villain kind of looks like Red Herring? Aside from the red hair? Nah. I even watched the ep AFTER your comment and just couldn't see it.

I like the Shaphne/Frelma hints in the third image. As much as I like the idea of playing with Frelma, it was basically just a lucky random seating arrangement. I do like the episodes where Fred and Velma quickly take note that they are more alike the other than they would seem at first.

Very boring episode. Childish jokes with the guest star. Veeeery cool backgrounds. Useless second characters. Failed attempt!

I didn't enjoy this episode. Fred, Velma and Daphne basically went back to having interchangeable dialogue and no personalities whatsoever. For someone who has seen a few of Jim Gaffigan's comedy specials, none of his jokes were funny at all and they were very out of character and watered down in terms of his usual comedy style. The monster was okay, I guess. There also was very little to say about the plot of the episode, wasn't really much of anything interesting. This is my second least favorite episode so far, my least favorite being the Abe Lincoln episode.

Jim Gaffigan was being a jerk to the gang, which I didn't like. The rest of the episode was okay.
