That's the main question I want to ask, especially to you Scooby/Shaggy "onlyers", following the events of "Freight Hound." We've seen Velma be very controlling with Shaggy over his pants, eating, and the "Like" talk, and her giving him the ultimatum (like Scooby also did) over choosing her or Scooby, not to mention her constantly and aggressively snuggling up to him while they were in public, making him feel uncomfortable (primarily in front of Scooby). Scooby seemed to not put too many, if any demands on Shaggy, save for the ultimatum. Perhaps ol' Scoob knew how to just bide his time because he saw that Velma was digging herself in deeper. Did Velma somehow deserve what she got, or could there have been any other way to have settled this? Scooby, for all of his specialness, is, well, still a dog. Velma's a human being. Heck, she even admitted that she loved Shaggy, and she feels humiliated that he chose a dog over her. That's pretty powerful. I would've really liked to have seen how Velma and Shaggy got together in the first place. If Velma had initiated the relationship (and given the way she seemed to have controlled things, it's certainly possible), then she should've seen this coming, pressuring the boy. If however, Shaggy started it, then he's a first-class jerk for basically leading her on, then getting Cold Feet and picking the Easy Way Out with Scooby. Speculate! ;D

You know what, I honestly think Velma asked for it abit. I mean, she came on very strong and was trying to force Shaggy to change. Now that being said, I mean I still feel so bad for Velma. I mean, I`m sure we all have had our hearts broken and we know how it feels. I hope that maybe Velma will show Shaggy that things can work out. But, I`m assuming Shaggy is Velma`s first boyfriend and she just didn`t know how to handle it. I don`t know, it`s Velma`s fault to an extent I guess. She could have saved herself from this heart break. But we all make mistakes.

Yes, she had it coming, but I think all of them are to blame to a degree. Velma acting like a jerk, Scooby acting all jealous. At least Shaggy finally found the courage to stick up for himself.
I do want them back together though.

I think in a way Velma was to blame, but they both had a part. Velma might of felt like Shaggy was pulling away, so she took charge of the relationship to get it back on track, but she got carried away. But also Shaggy maybe should of expected that behavior from a teenagegirl. And Even though I love Scooby, I thought he was being a bit selfish towards Shaggy, thinking Shaggy was his and stuff like that.

I think Velma was asking for it. She took things way too far with the pants and trying to change everything that made Shaggy who he is. She got carried away and I don't think it was fair that she asked Shaggy to choose between her and Scooby. Why can't they just make it work between all 3 of them? It would be good for her to chill out and deal with Shaggy and Scooby being such great friends. Maybe she's jealous because she's not close to someone like they are.

Velma seems to be good friends with Daphne, if nothing else because they both have had "boy problems" (See the Serum ep).

Heck yah she had it coming, like the others said, she was too freakin bossy to Shaggy. I hope they don't get back together, but do work on there friendship once the gang works things out. Like I said in another thread, I'm glad Shaggy choose Scooby over Velma, one thing they've been friends a lot longer than Velma/Shaggy have been dating. Scooby likes Shaggy being himself, Velma doesn't and always wanted him to change. So yah, hope they don't get back together, thank you writers for getting us out of that horrible relationship.

She was asking for it, you dont ask someone to chose between their bestest buddy in the whole wide world and their girl/boy friend its crazy, and although scoobys a dog hes just like a human in every way except phyisical he can talk and everything, my best friends boy friend is just as controlling as velma if not worse and he asked her to chose between him and her best friend forever and when you do that your begging for trouble, she could have toned it down and been happy with being with shaggy the way he was, if she wasnt so bossy he might have wanted to stay with her besides velma and scooby used to be really close in scooby doo in wheres my mummy he wouldnt stop crying until they agreed to go see her, they could have shared.

Mystery Incorporated follows a different continuity and different character scheme than the Scooby line had been known for, going to the warning track in left field with its teen romance angst angle buffering the mystery slant. In the new DVD movie Camp Scare, the gang is its usual self, with a working platonic relationship (and Scooby's affection for Velma intact).
That said, TV Tropes has Scooby and Velma both having taken "a level in jerkass" for cornering Shaggy into deciding who he wants. But deep down, shouldn't Shaggy be on that list for making Velma cry? (Guess that depends on how one feels about Velma's pushiness about her relationship with Shaggy.) Who knows what Sam Register was thinking when this show was greenlit, combining Scooby with Melrose Place? There are still fifteen episodes to go in the first season, so what will happen will happen and we'll have to see how things play out with both Mister E's motives and how Velma continues to cope with being slighted.

I get what your saying, and dont get me wrong I still love the show (it would take somthing super major befor I would even consider dropping it as my favourite show of all time) doesnt make it any easier for me to accept though, anyway I think that theres going to be a "were all best friends no matter what" scene in this series athough I cant say for exact where its going to be or when its going to show up but I definitaly can see it comming even if its in the last episode ever and then peace will be restored. and I still think shaggy was cornered between a rock and a hard place when the situation came up either way he was going to make one of them cry, if he started the dating velma thing THEN he is the biggest jerk of the lot and should have been clear with both of them from the start keeping scoob in the loop and giving both the alone time that they wanted from him (balanced out of course)

True. There should be a happy medium and maybe we'll see it down the line.
In Scooby Doo And The Reluctant Werewolf, Shaggy had a girl friend (Googie) and Velma's sister (Madelyn) had a crush on him in Abracadabra Doo and Scooby seemed to be okay with both. Then again, it appears to be an altered continuity.

I just don't like this Velma/Shaggy thing. It's tearing the gang apart. If they were trying to make people hate Velma for being bossy, they sure succeeded.

I agree with you doo, I don't like this romance between Shaggy and Velma. They are really taking the whole context of Scooby Doo and changing it. Stick to the mystery and stop with the romance.

It was nice to see Scooby take the first step in mending fences with Velma. Equally nice was to see the gang at the end business as usual.
