I mean to me, I think it can be interpreted a couple of different ways. If the writer meant only one of these I couldn't tell just by watching it the first time. A. Velma meant she didn't buy at of it was real period. It was all fake and stories. (Personally I don't think the viewer is supposed to side with Velma based on her pattern of actions throughout the whole movie and everyone else not siding with her there either) B. She was right, Asmodeus repented and is a good soul who no longer looks demonic came back to say goodbye. So no need to box him. C. She was wrong, he's still bad but he did have the guts to give them a quick thank you for getting his impersonator exposed and then he got out of there before anyone could think about boxing him. D. She was wrong, he's still bad and he deliberately helped cause the avalanche to stop his imposter. Gave a little wink to Vincent and got out of there before anyone could think about boxing him. E. Shaggy was right it just a trick of the cloud and we have no idea where that guy is. <iframe width="12.200000000000045" height="9.54000000000002" style="position: absolute; width: 12.200000000000045px; height: 9.54000000000002px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 15px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_7123782" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="12.200000000000045" height="9.54000000000002" style="position: absolute; width: 12.2px; height: 9.54px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 562px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_4701604" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="12.200000000000045" height="9.54000000000002" style="position: absolute; width: 12.2px; height: 9.54px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 412px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_61951571" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="12.200000000000045" height="9.54000000000002" style="position: absolute; width: 12.2px; height: 9.54px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 562px; top: 412px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_34819171" scrolling="no"></iframe> I find the last explanation to be the least likely since why would a cloud/smoke resemble that specific person at that exact moment lol

Well I was being fair to Shaggy lol. Clouds look like people all the time...or at least Shaggy thinks so.
To me though I'm just confounded we are having this conversation in a movie that was supposed to tie up loose ends. This is either a rather confused decision or the sign that the plot elements might be used again someday. But for that I don't pretend to know for sure what are in WB execs minds.

As someone who remembers this as their favorite series as a kid... I thought it was pretty..okay. It had some enjoyable moments but there was also some stuff that kinda rubbed me the wrong way. I feel that they played it a little too safe in a sense (IE; Leaving out scrappy as well as Weerd and Boogul) Instead of actually having a 13th ghost they kind of copped out and went with the more traditional "guy in a mask" routine. Which doesn't really make sense in a film finishing a show where the monsters and ghouls were real.
The story was a little messy and didn't really explain a whole lot of things. Another part I wasn't too thrilled by was the portrayal of Daphne.I felt the whole "Action heroine" things was a bit of stretch from what she was in the series. In the NSDM/13th Ghost shows she was depicted as a more capable character and less danger prone, but she was still "Daphne" (Still a little clumsy/ some moments getting into silly antics WITH Shaggy and Scooby/Scrappy.) I think she should have been toned down a little. As a lot of others have said the ending DEFINITELY could have been more satisfying.
Now in terms of things I did like. I enjoyed the character interaction and Flim-Flam, despite the age thing I think he was portrayed very well and in character; he should have had more screen time. I also wasn't expecting that musical chase sequence so that was a neat surprise as well (I'm probably the only one who is glad they're making a comeback in the franchise since BCSD lol). The intro was great too with all the references to the ghosts captured through out the series. But it still makes me wonder why they decided to leave out Scrappy.
Anywho, Not too bad-But not super amazing. I rate it a 7/10.

Just saw this a few moments ago and given some of our conversation this might be relevant to consider:
Interesting that he uses that word gate-keepers. Whether we love or hate the direction it does seem to be getting more likely there is a plan leading to something from these things. If it was just haphazardly put together, why would you really need a gate-keeper?

I wouldn't give credence to a plan or direction yet, I would guess it's more like making sure it fits the 'look and feel' WB wants with its properties.

It was an ok movie. The first 37 min or so we’re actually pretty good. I enjoyed the characterization of everyone apart from the cheerleding hijinks. The “what’s a scrappy” line was also well needed lol. I’m glad we didn’t get him in the movie and hopefully we never will see him again. Asmodeus was actually pretty creepy in the beginning. I shivered a bit when he came crawling from the ceiling (reminded me of horror exorcism movies) and when he kept closing the door very quickly. Those scenes we great. Also I enjoyed the car chases and Daphne being a leader. By the way, Fred being condescending was literally the entire personality BCSD Fred was based on. Why has no one mentioned that? The puns and jokes were also on point and the music was great. It really did resemble the ridiculousness of the series. The avalanche scene taking over 5 minutes was super unnecessary and they could have used that time to make the last scenes less rushed.

Gotta admit, I cringed hard at the Fred cheerleader bit. Just please, don't do it again (nothing against Fred doing actual cheerleading, but the way it was done and those cheers - like nails on a chalkboard). But other than that I thought it was pretty good, kind of liked the ghost car better than the actual 13th Ghost though. Thought the avalanche scene was just a little too long. Loved Flim-Flam and Vincent van Ghoul (the VA does a wonderful Vincent Price), loved Daphne in this, liked the vehicles in this (Vincent's bat-themed plane piloted by Shaggy was just fun to see), and the humor was done well enough. An average but solid and fun entry in the series.

Well this movie might get more hate than Scrappy doo the way reviews are going now. That would be the real sad thing about it. Or not. I guess everyone just has to spook for themselves in a force of havoc.

I think it's opened some serious doors for later down the line. So this movie isn't the grand finale to 13 Ghosts, but instead reintroducing some of their plot elements to new fans. If this movie had that godawful ending just to set up a sequel featuring Velma eating her words, a real Asmodeus, and maybe Bogel, Weerd and Scrappy, I will eat my hat. But honestly, I'd prefer an Alien Invaders sequel. Shaggy and Crystal need to be together already.
