So I saw the latest OK KO episode which featured Ghoul School and this gave me the spark to try and develop a fanfiction around it. The basic plot revolves around 5 young interns(ages 18-20) who end up getting a job interning at Miss Grimwood's school. There, they meet the Ghoul School girls and end up getting involved in a bunch of crazy misadventures. To me, I sort of see it as being like a spiritual successor to Regular Show in tone and style(such as getting into crazy adventures) and due to the crossover, set in the same universe as OK KO. I just need help developing the five interns for starters. Anyone interested in giving me a hand?

Welcome to the forum, StardustCrusader! I'm not familiar with Regular Show or OK K.O. (other than the Ghoul School episode), but I'm happy to try to provide suggestions or help come up with ideas. Firstly, would you want to keep the girl ghouls' personalities the same or develop them a bit? Have the interns ever had any previous contact with supernatural beings? P.S. This is the same person (WildwindVampire) from Fanfiction.net that you PM'ed

We could discuss it on here if you like, that way others can jump in if they have any suggestions from reading our conversation

Ok, that's fine. It isn't an OK KO story just more like a shared universe(like how the ghoul school appeared in it or like captain planet did for example, or even the mentioned scooby-doo reference) more like set around that timeline I guess). As for the girls, like I mentioned before, I imagine it's set around that time so they are older than they were before(since you saw the O.K K.O episode, the older girls are around Enid's age, which I guess to be around 18). So their personalities are the same. For the intern, I imagined them being 18-20 for their age.
An no, not really contact with the supernatural, I figured they applied there without knowing but they learn to adjust.
So should I clarify more or start on character sheets?

You're welcome to start with the character sheets if you like, that might help to give a bit of background.

You're welcome to start with the character sheets if you like, that might help to give a bit of background. 1. Ok, but was curious, what do you think of what I posted giving some background setting? 2. So, I did have some characters for five interns so far. Don't have names yet but I'll use letters for the time being: R: I imagine he's like the self-appointed leader. Most down to earth, has a sense of responsibility, calm and patience, tries to be the optimist B: I figured he could fill the role of being like the nerdy guy(interest in plants like you mentioned) and is voice of reason or tries to be Y: I see him as the most laid back, more like go with a flow kind of guy, even more than R. He has a 'Brilliant but lazy' demeanor to him at times, needs more development but as you mentioned have some medical knowledge(surprise to everyone, knows CPR and can name different organ damages) G: I see him as being more like the most sarcastic, snarky, deadpan, apathetic little gruff, more like mechanic guy O: I see him as kind of a flirt or cassanova wannabe. I also had him have an interest of cooking as a hobby but is horrible at it and thinks he's good even though he only took a class for like a week. I just need more help fleshing them out for starters. As well, I imagine overall, interning there, they didn't know it was for monsters but not sure if the world is normal(again, if you saw O.K K.O, K.O didn't seem too surprised to see monsters but I guess it's something not common)

The background definitely sounds interesting, though it might be nice to know what specifically drew the interns to apply for the job at Grimwood's? In other words, why are they here?
Could R be the "moral compass" type person who is always optimistic about everything, maybe overly so at times? Such as maybe he believes too much in people?
As for B, maybe giving him an almost quirky personality might be fun? Nerdy people often tend to deviate from what is seen as "normal" or "cool" in society and just tend to be their own person with their own unique quirks.
Y: I'm confused about the "as you mentioned" thing, though maybe you copied this over from another conversation? Could this guy sort of be the 'teacher's pet' type or a know-it-all, but at times, maybe he's overconfident with himself and therefore cuts corners a bit?
G: This guy already sounds pretty fleshed out to me, though just to add something, maybe have his character be somewhat like Be Cool Scooby-Doo's Velma, if you've seen that series?
O: I'm getting the sense that this guy is maybe a bit full of himself, thinks of himself as the "ladies' man" even though he isn't. He thinks he's perfect at everything (especially cooking), but he's in reality not good at much of anything.

1. When applying to Grimwood, I figured they were looking for internships pretty late around. They ended up choosing Grimwood as it one of the two options left(other was mascots for Funland).
As for Y, copied over from another convo. Let me repost:
Y: I see him as the most laid back, more like go with a flow kind of guy, even more than R. He has a 'Brilliant but lazy' demeanor to him at times, but he does have some medical knowledge(surprise to everyone, knows CPR and can name different organ damages)
O, a little of an ego but he isn't a jerk.
As for tone and style, if you've seen Gravity Falls( it is something like that(which is also similar to Regular Show)
I was wondering, what do you think of my idea of aging up the characters(like their ages shown in O.K KO?
I also need help with setting. In the world set, should it be odd to see monsters or is it something seen as normal?
Anything else I should share to help develop?

Interesting, I love how you referenced Funland!
O: Good to know. Maybe he could have a little bit of ego, which might occasionally get him into conflict/trouble.
I have not seen Gravity Falls or Regular Show, but I know a bit about them. So, essentially, it sounds like you're looking for a more silly, lighthearted tone as opposed to a dark one.
Not sure what you mean by "aging up" the characters, they looked about the same age to me if you're referring to the girl ghouls.
Hmm. I'm not sure if you've read my fanfic (Fangs for the Memories), but I made it a bit odd to see monsters. The explanation being no monsters really hang around the Grimwood area unless they're at the school, as they're afraid given the Revolta incident (sort of like a Harry Potter-esque "Voldemort rises again" thing if that makes sense, they're afraid Revolta will appear again). You could also say Grimwood's is in the human realm (thus why Shaggy and these five interns applied for it), whereas there's also a monster realm. You could bounce back and forth between the two depending on what you wanted your plot to be.
One question I had is if this going to have an overarching plot or if you're going to have a new adventure every chapter?

In O.K KO, they seemed older to me(around the character Enid's age for like Sibella, Phantasma and Elsa. I mean, looking at how Sibella was drawn, I assumed that) who is in her late teens 3. That world idea sounds interesting, I'll think of it. 4. Yeah, more like episodic/new adventure. I was wondering, what else should I share perhaps?

Is it ever stated how old Enid is in OK K.O.? Hadn't thought about it, but you are correct that the general tone was that several years had passed since Ghoul School. I think they may have even mentioned that they remembered the "weird guy and his dog" from a few years ago or something. I've always thought that in the original film, Tanis was like 7, Winnie 9, Phantasma 10, Elsa 11 and Sybella maybe 11 or 12. Does that sound right to you?
So the general tone you're going for is episodic. More specifically, are you going for a more comedic tone? Also, what sort of "adventures" are you thinking the interns will have? (e.g. do you have any examples of the plots of the first few chapters?)

Enid is said to be in her late teens, so that's how I figured the older girls were around that time. Does that seem right? 2. Well, more like adventure/comedic line. I actually had two ideas: First one: So like I imagine B at one point while tending to the garden, destroys it using some chemicals/fertilizer by accident. Miss Grimwood finds out, but is not angry as she understands it was an an accident but gets really depressed as she spent years working on it and had a connection withit. Feeling bad, B tries to regrow it and he uses some kind of chemical(magical? buys it online/somewhere shady) and it makes an out of control garden(not sure if it should be sentient or just wild and crazy), which traps everyone in the school. And now, they have to find a way to move past all the super-charged garden Second one: So the girls win a special trip to Funland after getting 1st place in some volleyball competition and everyone goes. Most people are excited, except G who had a bad experience there when he was younger. There, Charlie the robot has been mass produced with new upgraded models to run the amusement park. However, they end up going haywire(someone does it?) and terrorizing the amusement park.

1. Yes, that definitely sounds right given Enid's age was revealed in the show. 2. Ah, okay, I know a bit about Regular Show (just from friends and stuff, never watched it myself) so it sounds like you've got the tone down really nicely. It sounds like a fun, silly story so far. Is there anything else you wanted to share? Happy to keep bouncing ideas off each other if you like.

That could help give me an idea? 1.5 So, how did the ideas sound? any feedback, changes to them maybe? 2. Well, I guess I'll go broad before starting specific. One, I guess what would the relationships be like, say between interns and the girls maybe for starters based on how I described them?
