This sounds like it would be an amazing show. I wouldn't make Shaggy and Scooby super brave, but braver than they have been in recent series. Making Shaggy this super brave and serious character wouldn't go over so well with a lot of fans and it would be the Be Cool Daphne thing all over again. Though making him a bit more braver and less of a goofball would definitely be a nice change. Since it taking place in the Zombie Island era then our character are more mature and experience, so Shaggy and Scooby would probably be more serious than in recent shows.
I also think that Shaggy need some type of character development. I mean everyone has gotten development, even Scooby became Brave and had his heroic moment, but Shaggy has been the same since the beginning. I was kinda disappointed with MI season 2 as I felt that Shaggy kinda got forgotten when it came to character arc or plot. He just wanted to run away and pretend nothing was going on. Also I think Shaggy need to get some type of romance plot. It seems every DTV movie has Fred getting some girl even though the writer have Daphne and Fred together. Don't know why they don't do the same for Shaggy.
How would the dynamic shift exactly?
The bolded. This, futurerocker, is where I propose the return of Googie. Not just as Shaggy's girlfriend, but also possibly his fiance. And she could have a female dog or cat that Scooby falls in love with. For Velma, two suggestions: 1. she should be paired with a new original character, and to make it really interesting, let it be the first interracial relationship in the franchise. OR 2. return of Hot Dog Water, and they officially become confirmed girlfriends. As for Fraphne, I really miss the way the pairing was written in the classic DTV era. You know, where it was cute/sweet and didn't overshadow the gang's friendship. Let me give one more example of how the dynamic would change, and it again ties in with the Fred/Shaggy thing I mentioned. Remember the Groovy song from Alien Invaders? That, along with Shaggy having dated more ladies than Fred, established that yes Fred is the better leader, but Shaggy is the better romantic. Since they've been pushing Fraphne, how we haven't gotten a single DTV/episode yet (and I'm not talking about that credits scene in Stage Fright) where Shaggy is giving Fred tips and advice on how to be a more attentive and romantic boyfriend to Daphne is beyond me.

Ok one more response and I'm out: Making Shaggy this super brave and serious character wouldn't go over so well with a lot of fans and it would be the Be Cool Daphne thing all over again. I totally agree with the first part, which is why I'm not in favor of simply making Shaggy a Fred clone and passing it as a growth arc. Meanwhile, I honestly think the reason why Be Cool Daphne got mixed reviews is because it was such a change and it came out of nowhere. I'll put it this way: If SDWAY was the last series associated with Scooby-Doo before Be Cool, and none of the other shows/movies/etc. even existed, I guarantee you Be Cool Daphne would've received better reception. This is not the Ducktales reboot where the only thing prior to it (excluding the comics) was a one-time 30-year-old show and accompanying movie (and let me be clear, I greatly respect all the mentioned). Let's be real, they didn't need a reason to reinvent those characters because aside from folks who watched the original and read the comics in childhood? Before this reboot, all a majority of people remembered from the original was the legendary theme song, Huey/Dewey/Louie having the same voice/personality, and Webby being the stereotypical token girl. And all the initial criticism I saw of the reboot's animation let me know that the same majority didn't even know the comics, let alone remember them. Whereas Scooby-Doo is a continuous franchise. Everyone grew up with it and has a basic grasp on the characters, formula, etc. The point I'm trying to make with that analogy is, if a major change is being brought to a staple that doesn't need to be reintroduced to a new generation, there has to be a reason/backstory that makes sense. Please let me know if I made sense just now, lol.

I agree with this fully, especially the return to a cute/sweet Fraphne relationship. At this point, especially with the overused jealousy gag, it's beginning to overshadow the gang's relationship and the plot overall, like you said. Although I guess this would be the first interspecies relationship (Scooby and the cat) as well as the first interracial relationship?

On point 1 don't forget the following from LEGO Knight Time Terror On point 2. I agree 100%, bring back HDW Alternatively a stable off-screen relationship would also work, same with Shaggy be it Googie or Madelyn (Velma's sister). As for Fred and Daphne, they would really need to ease off on things a lot. If three's a crowd how about four, in a van with a dog. After all they are not on double dates, they are working. If you want Fred and Daphne really together then I think you would need Shaggy and Velma together to avoid the 'gooseberry effect' with Velma and/or Shaggy always interrupting some moment or other. We also want to avoid Scooby Doo turning into a rom-com. It didn't work as a soap-opera (SD:MI) so lets stick to mysteries with a sprinkle of interaction.

Bringing Googie back and i'm already hooked. Fiance would be very interesting and I would personally love to see the reaction from the gang.
For Velma, I wouldn't mind an interracial relationship as long as it's done well. Just don't make it like how Fraphne is in the recent films. I wouldn't be such a huge fan of the writers making Velma a lesbian. I don't think I would be a huge supporter for that. Making Fraphne how is was in the classic DTV movie would be a step in the right direction for making that relationship enjoyable to see.
You could have a scene where Shaggy helps Fred impress Daphne during one of there mystery. Would be an interesting episode .
I think the only problem with this is the amount of character. Would Velma love interest and Googie be apart of the gang?

Please let me know if I made sense just now, lol. Completely agree with this. Daphne in Mystery Incorporated was more serious, let solve this mystery. In Be Cool it was a complete 180 from this serious character who was ready to solve the mystery and catch the bad guy to this eccentric and wacky character. Daphne in MI didn't even make any type of jokes. That was Shaggy and Scooby job lol. The only thing I think that Daphne kept from other serious was her team mom trait. In the episodes she would help cheer up the gang when they felt like they couldn't solve the mystery and would stick up for her friends, for example in the episode where Scooby and Shaggy are bribed into doing dangerous task for some of the magician treats she felt this was wrong. When I think back on it, Daphne from Be Cool had some big traits from other series, but I feel her new eccentric personality was more important to the writers, so it felt more like a completely different character.

Wow that's awesome! I never saw the LEGO films, so I didn't know. I think the only problem with this is the amount of character. Would Velma love interest and Googie be apart of the gang? Nope, just recurring characters.

I think the skeleton ghost was the Sherriff's brother at all times and was only drawn as scarrier looking to throw suspicion off the Sherriff being him. Also it was shown later the headless horseman was a dummy. The Sherriff's brother probably had a recording device inside it to make it talk. I think the Sherriff's brother was the Colonel's ghost most of the time. The one at the end was real.
