I've been working on a Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School spinoff fanfic for the past few weeks now, and as of tonight the first chapter is finally finished! Though the gang isn't featured at all (just mentioned briefly), the fanfic takes place a few years after Shaggy and the dogs were at Grimwood's. The fanfic is written from Sybella's perspective, though the other girl ghouls are also main characters all throughout. The basic premise is that Miss Grimwood has decided to remodel Grimwood's School for Girl Ghouls, after the school received bad publicity in the media due to the girls being kidnapped by Revolta ("Even monster parents didn't want to send their kids to a school where children were kidnapped by a homicidal witch," as Sybella puts it.) The school is now a popular ghoul boarding school holding about 75 students (when the fanfic begins), and the girls have to come to terms with being separated from one another as well as realizing how sheltered they are, seeing as they've basically lived in Grimwood's since they were about kindergarten age. The girls are also teenagers now, and we all know how fun and sparkly going through adolescence is, am I right?
Many of the Ghoul School fanfics I've read are, I'll just be blunt and say they sexualize the crap out of the ghouls, so with this fanfic I wanted to try my hand at writing a fanfic about my favorite film in the Scooby-Doo franchise while also portraying the girls more realistically and on-character. A brief content warning though, there is some very mild language used sparingly as well as some minor PG-13-esque themes, because, well after all they're teenagers so it made the most sense.
