I don't know if this is info but I'm assuming this is part of the new series. Seems they got Bill Nye to be a guest star from this video Grey posted on her twitter: Notice Micucci and Welker are in the video too.

true, Bill Nye is primarily known here in the US. Bill Nighy, on the other hand, would be more recognizable across the world.

Well Scooby is made primarily for US audiences, so the target audience or their older relatives may know of Bill Nye. The don't make Scooby-Doo with the Brits in mind.

As evidenced by guest stars they've used in the past. Mama Cass, Sonny and Cher, Jerry Reed, Tim Conway, KISS, The WWE, Speed Buggy, Phyllis Diller, Jeannie, etc. All very popular in the US at one point or another but unknown to foreigners. I'm just saying that since it's made primarily for American children, it makes sense that many guest stars wouldn't make sense to fans in The UK, Europe, Canada, Mexico, Australia, South America, Africa or Japan.

Or the rest of the world it would seem if that is their attitude. Scooby is a world-wide franchise, just an American thing with a niche following in the rest of the world. Also having Nye as Nye might put off some people in the US due to, well, evolution.

Are you saying that KISS, WWE, Mammas and the Pappas, Sonny and Cher are only known in the US?
