This episode felt somewhat underwhelming, although i liked the monster a lot (he's one of the few villians to actually speak so far), and there was an amazing scene where shaggy and scooby point out how they always are the ones who get chased. Then, Scooby and Shaggy crush the jester's dreams by rejecting him from an acting role, and then he takes the bus home, before realizing he has been tricked. However, i felt that the voice actors for the king and his investor were really annoying, and there weren't any real clues pointing to the villian this time. overall it was a good episode, just not as amazing as the last two episodes were, so maybe a 6-7/10

I love the first two and think they're better, but I personally would give this one a 9 or 10 because I love BCSD.

I enjoyed it a lot more than the first 2. Daphne giving that stare at the king after he wanter her to clean was everything. "I just invented a selfie" was funny as well. The king receiving a Snapchat was the cherry on top. The monster and the animation were top notch. Between the studios, Snipple has to be my favourite. The way they make it look more realistic in their movements makes me appreciate it even more. Fred being a jester was entertaining and the way Shag and Scoob got rid of the monster was epic. The crowd at the feast was hilarious as well.

As a fun fact, I think that the Jester is the first monster in this series to actually talk, not counting the Butler 3000

As a fun fact, I think that the Jester is the first monster in this series to actually talk, not counting the Butler 3000 I believe you're correct. We had a "no master talking" mandate early on, but by second season, we were able to get WB to loosen their rules to create more interesting, dimensional monsters. You'll see more of this and other nice developments throughout season 2.

Just cause I wrote the show doesn't mean I'm not a fan or don't have an opinion. Other people involved in creating shows feel they're "above" talking to the audience on forums like this. Being a fan of lots of things, myself, I'm no different than anyone here is. I have a little more inside knowledge and a different point of view. If that's helpful for discussion, great - but mostly, I like to make sure the truth is being told and to address issues that seem to be critiques when there are good reasons why certain things are done. I'm proud of this show and it didn't get a fair chance. Someone needs to fight for it.

we're lucky to have you jcb, as most show creators dont carry on conversations with fans. that you do, speaks well of you, and allows us to peek a little behind the curtain.

For sure. I think a lot of people would let themselves be biased (consciously or unconsciously) about their own show, but you really seem to use your point-of-view to help discuss the show in a neutral manner and help aid you in discussion. It's great that you address critiques too, even if some of them are ridiculous and treat the fans like they're your equals. Not a lot of people would do that so you get major points in my book.

Just saw this one today. In my opinion in places it was a bit weak, particularly the spot where the gang is just able to randomly escape the dungeon accessories. I understand it was supposed to just be humorous, but it was a bit too illogical for my taste and messed with the story development. (I mean as in, why would the king lock the gang up if he knew they could just escape?)
The Jester's riddles were genuinely creepy! Reminded me a bit of The Freak of Crystal Cove from SDMI (well the original one in "Pawn of Shadows", before they inexplicably made him go from complex riddles to indecipherable grunts and half-sentences).
That scene where the Jester returns home discouraged though...omg I almost died laughing. lol

I'm sorry the joke didn't work for you. It always made me smile. The jester going home, though, that was something I fought for. I wanted to have it go on as long as possible and was convinced they'd NEVER let me do it. Thankfully, they did. usually WB doesn't like undercutting the threat of the monster that much, but I guess even they saw that this was just too god to resist. So silly. Glad you enjoyed it. I liked how this episode turned out. It was solid and wasn't aiming to be a big surprise one like a few others coming up that mess with the characters a lot more. Good basic silly episodes are hard to make, so I'm glad when they come off as well as this did.
