I notice the period between it and What's New is the longest at 11 years. Did people really hate this series so much?

I Dunno why there was such a huge time gap.

I think it was "Scooby-Doo in Arabian Nights" that almost killed the franchise.

Well, I don't know about that. Likely either no new ideas were pitched or like Wileyk209 said, Arabian Nights nearly killed the franchise.

Afaik, Mid '90s: Hanna Barbera had just gotten bought out and Cartoon Network was airing old reruns non-stop. There was no need for new material since the reruns seemed to be doing very well and they hadn't organized a new Scooby production crew yet. It was an adjustment period as I see it where Cartoon Network got a lot of life out of rerun Scooby episodes while they decided the future of Scooby.

There was a DTV every year between 1997 and 2001 (first four) so there was some new material being made.

Yeah, that's probably it. I wasn't taking the movies into account. Arabian Nights ruining things makes a lot of sense.

I never cared for "A Pup Named Scooby-Doo". But what was the problem with "Arabian Nights"?

I never cared for "A Pup Named Scooby-Doo". But what was the problem with "Arabian Nights"? Lot of people aren't keen on arabian nights because there was less focus on Scooby and the gang then marketing suggested. I haven't seen it so I can't offer an opinion, but it seems alright...
