Almost. I pitched one for all of you guys who requested it, but WB decided to make one of our episodes into two 11 min eps instead of our usual one 22 mines (just to see if we could try an third season of 11 min eps), so my Hex Girl episode got nixed. Then we heard no third season and I had had to do a series finale, so I wanted to focus it more on the gang and reach some kind of resolution on certain things, which left no room for the Hex Girls. Almost, though. Almost. I tried. That sucks. From the two episodes I have seen (Some Fred Time and There Wolf), Season 2 seems like it'll blow Season 1 out of the water, and I loved Season 1. Thanks, yeah, I think season 2 does blow season 1 out of the water, but you all know that. The first 2/3 of season 1 had a bunch of barely saving certain episodes at the 11th hour and always being behind and dealing with WB trying to control things when they should have trusted us, etc. It was a mess. Once they loosed the reigns and let Zac and I just make the show we wanna make, things started improving. There are some GREAT episodes in season 1, but season 2 goes down the rabbit hole in terms of Zac and I trying weird stuff, exploring the characters, pushing the humor and adventure, experimenting, just taking the show out on the road, opening it up and seeing what it can do. It, hopefully, was not ruined by hamfisted, ignorant edits and ego-driven changes once Zac and I left, but even then, it should be pretty interesting. Based on the scripts (and if they followed them and executed them correctly), I'd put it up against any season of Scooby Doo in the its entire 50 year run. Big words, I know, but we killed ourselves on it and really tired to make the best, funniest show on television.

It seems like you had more creative control, especially with the humor and plot in general. This especially shows in parts of the new episodes like with Fred solving the three mysteries in the beginning of SFT and the side characters in TW. On a side note, I also noticed that the monsters look a bit scarier than usual, does this have to do with the creative control as well?

Well, season 2 also has some of the silliest monsters in the series, as well. We pushed the show out in all directions and broadened the scope of what we could do. So, yes, there are some scary monsters, but also some funny ones, which is something we wanted to try more of in season 1 - since, after all, it IS a comedy. Whatever worked best for the story is what we went with, which is always the best approach.

you tried different things, which with a show thats been around as long as Scooby can have pluses and minuses. However, there is also playing it it TOO safe, and just basically redoing stuff from where are You. We already had that in whats new. We've also had 11 minute 2 parters before, in New Scooby Doo mysteries. Cant really have much of a plot if you only have 11 minutes to do everything, and you cant flesh out new characters very well, and again we saw that with the various Scooby cousins in NSDM, they were really just there, and didnt add much.Lost oportunity, that

Fortunately, for us, being how this is the most character-driven of all Scooby shows with the most fully dimensional gang, "trying stuff" means trying stuff with OUR characters and, simply because of their natures, the stories go in new or unexpected directions. IN SDMI, the over-arching plot locked those characters into being reactive. The outcome is inevitable because the story had to be decided ahead of time. We just have fun thinking what would happen if we did this or that to the characters - or what of we put them in THIS situation. The characters then take over and do what THEY would do and bounce off each other and that's why season 2 is so much fun. We were left alone to explore the characters and the comedy and try different kinds of mysteries. And, no, 11 minute eps did not work at all. Especially with our show. I guess they thought because it was more absurdly comedic, they could make it 11 minutes like Phineas & Ferb or TTG, but we have 5 pretty dimensional characters, plus a mystery, plus suspects and everything else you mentioned - to service, so it was impossible to tell a satisfying story in 11 minutes.

Did you end up having an episode with the Hex Girls? Almost. No, "Night Of The Upsetting Shorts" is a full 22 minute ep. I wish we could have made it a 4 part episode or future film. It was one of the stupidest thing we ever did. That was so much fun.
