This isn't about the famous thing, it's more that Since this is a reboot, i'd imagine that WB/DC would most likely use a completely new cast/or the prequel cast to separate it. The DC films swap va's all the time despite the fact that the DCAU voices are the most well known there. I could see the old voices as different roles in the new film. Sort of like how other shows are doing with DC/WB properties after all Mystery Inc just had Casey Kasem be Shaggy's dad instead of Shaggy since he retired and then Lillard got the role. They wouldn't be letting go of the old cast per se but just doing something to keep the classic series and the reboot separate. I could see them keeping Kate since she's still new with Mindy returning to the classic side but the others would take on different roles in the film like what they did on mystery inc. It might be a little weird but it wouldn't be the first time Scooby did a voice switch and it certainly wouldn't be the last. Sure the WNSD cast has the longest tenure overall but knowing how WB/DC does things the film would logically be getting a new voice cast to help make it clear that SCOOB is a different continuity along with differences in origins and the world building. Remember that SCOOB is the launch pad for the HBCU and Cinematic Universes have different rules than tv so we should expect a complete overhaul vocally, and artisticly.

Kasem voiced Shaggy's dad as Kasem's voice didn't sound like a teenager's any more. His voice sounded the age he was.
I still see no reason for changing the VAs, SCOOB has every chance of being a complete train-crash of a film if they don't handle this right so having as much continuity as possible will help 'ease' people in. Using the existing VAs as other roles is pointless, you're paying out twice and adding confusion to the mix plus as someone who has bad eyesight I sometimes go by the voice as by the image on the screen to tell me what is going on.
New VAs will come in, people get old, retire, move on to other things. That's a now brainer, but changing them for the sake of changing them I think is unwise.
However, I think this is one thing we won't be able to put to bed till we get some more information on the film so will have to agree to disagree.

An HB cinematic 'verse... I'm not sure whether to be excited or terrified.

As long as they have Frank Welker as Fred and Matthew Lillard as Shaggy, I'll be fine. Frank Welker's Scooby to me still isn't as good as Don Messick, or even Scott Innes (I often compare it to the voice Welker used for Brain on "Inspector Gadget.") At least he's better than Neil Fanning, though...

Isn't the My little Pony FiM movie using the VAs from that series? Why would this have to be different?

Ok, I twitted Matthew Lillard and asked if he is voicing Shaggy in S.C.O.O.B. (Have a look if you want) but he replied and said "What the hell is that?".
So, I guess his heard nothing. I'll let you know if I here more.

Isn't the My little Pony FiM movie using the VAs from that series? Why would this have to be different? It could use the regular cast but since this is a Cinematic endeavor...they will probably use an entirely new cast or the prequel cast for it. I'd say Kate,Nick,Robbie and Haley would be best for something cinematic at this point, and just bring Scott or Frank back to be Scooby. Who knows? It's still a year away so we've got plenty of time to look for things about this.
