Color me intrigued. Successful or not, the name gives me the impression we might not be getting yet another reboot or origin story, but something reasonably creative. I'm all for taking the series to another level, tweaking the formula, much like 'Zombie Island' did.

Guesses on what S.C.O.O.B. stands for? Here's one from Twitter!
"Society of Crimefighting Orphans on a Bus".
LOL!

Not much real news here except we've got a title that doesn't bother me that much. After what happened with BvS, I imagine they'll be even more shaking on making it too different.
So I would expect it'll be a slightly different set up, but not too jarring. I have quite high hopes for this.

I find this intriguing as many of the old HB properties deserve a reboot and perhaps find a new audience. This could become the equivalent to the establishment of the Marvel Universe in theatres now.

Admittedly since this thread was originally made, we now know the very first film of this series is including some of the other characters right off the bat. Which I'm still surprised by but also a likely sign of confidence.
It's not secret the top two Hanna Barbera franchises are alive and well today. Scooby and Tom and Jerry. The question is how much of that audience is shared and how far down the ladder can this go? These films will need to bring in the old audience and make new ones. The dtv's have been playing around with somethings for a while now, so I have confidence WB has the talent to get it done.
But to me this kicker is still the SCOOB premise. As I re quote myself again. I honestly thought this first movie would be more basic Scooby with a few teasers for other characters. As they were going to crutch the first movie on Scooby. The appearance they don't have to do that, to me just clenches the idea they think this will have legs.
Now will they be right? Well I think Scooby and Tom and Jerry should do fine as long as they don't get too risky. They both have higher social media followers than anything DC comics related (not even counting all the kids too young to count), and the DC movies are still proceeding through. So I think the potential is there, but as always we have to wait and see.

well just like Dc is built on superman and batman, so warner is built on Scooby and tom and Jerry. after that , you'd have to put yogi bear as the 3rd franchise. not sure what to add after that.

At least DC tries to promote their other characters Hanna Barbera outside three comics and a Flinstones breakfast cereal doesn't. :/

I doubt Tom and Jerry will be included since they aren't technically Hanna-Barbera characters.

true, hanna simply stick to its most famous brands. They could do what Marvel and DC do with their cinematic universes. Start off with their most popular characters (Batman, Superman etc) and then go into lesser known characters (Shazam, Cyborg etc). I think they would do really well with a Space Ghost movie, especially with how popular Coast to Coast is among Adult Swim fans.

They do have several other popular franchises: The Flintstones The Jetsons (which will be coming back into the public eye with their WWE movie next year). Wacky Races (which is having a reboot soon on Cartoon Network). Jonny Quest Top Cat Hong Kong Phooey You could probably also put Space Ghost as well.

They don't showcase these brands nearly enough though. When was the last time any of these got a new show? You think with Netflix and Amazon streaming they'd even do something there but WB seems to completely not care about HB :S
