If I'd have to use a word to describe it, it would be a mix between wow and wtf..
I loved this one. And definitely goes up to my top 3. I havent had so many laughs since Mystery 101. TOP JOKES: citiziens' weird looks; Daphne saying "you look like you're dying" to Velma; all the segment of Shaggy and Scooby protecting the corn; the first chase and many more. Loved the fact thay Shaggy and Scooby had the chance to wear so many different clothes. Also SUPER congratulations for that clever twist motive. I was really convinced that the scarecrow was Beth since mysteries are so easy to solve in this series. The fact that for 20 episodes the culprit was so obvious also helped a lot into this finale's shocker. Im still puzzled tbh.
Btw Daphne was too precious in this one and loved the names she gave the pets and when she showed Danny the lobster and the horse. I also loved the fact that she mentioned her mum as "mother" again and her fun facts are the best. I loved the fact that the horse kept eating Daphne's hair throughout the episode and I would really love to have him in da gang.
I admit I need subtitles next time I watch this. I didn't understand Southern accent at all and also didnt understand some of what the gang said.. I must practise on my English tho. Btw I enjoyed Fred's lines too and his flirting ones. And Beth's father only knowing 'yep', 'nope' and 'meddling' was epic.
I enjoyed Velma's "story". I couldn't stop laughing at her face the first time they see the monster. Probably the only "stain" of the episode was her sneezing at the end. A little bit to long.
Eventually, Id like to spend some words on the episode overall. I felt since the beginning that something was weird. I had it confirmed when I first saw the Mystery Machine and I thought 'What the heck is that thing' and I could bet it would have been a terrible episode. But then I realised how this animation (I know Im probably the only one who payed so much attention to the animatiom style.. but I though you could see the difference sooo much) fit so good on the story. The story overall was so good and the dialogues where sharper then ever. The first-episodes-awkwardness we had for a while totally disappeared for this. You could still feel a bit in previous eps but this one was braver. Also in the end I noticed that Animation Studio switched from Snipple Animation to Synergy. If Jcb could explain what happend for this episode it woulf be awsome. Even if I loved the chase scene and music too I wasnt really paying attention to the lyrics. Did it really say 'sober'? Just wondering if that was the cause of the hiatus, not judging. Tbh it would be cool. Btw loved the setting and the atmosphere for this one. Gave me the creeps especially when the scarecrow would chase everyone. When the gang closed themself in the house it felt like a horror movie!

It was only for a brief moment too, and I hope that the song saying sober isn't why it was put on hiatus, since that would kinda be sad. And it definitely was one of the best episodes! We don't have that many good farm mysteries, and this has to be the best of them all for me.

I guess this was on Cartoon Network Video, otherwise I can't explain it.
It was a pretty good episode. I thought it would be Beth. I thought it was kind of a "quiet" episode, if that makes any sense. But I still liked it, though. I wasn't that into Velma's allergies and the way she looked, and I found the part where she kept on sneezing while trying to tell them to that they had to catch the scarecrow after Daphne's pep talk kind of annoying (I guess I wasn't into the animation that much when it came to Velma's allergic reactions). Another small complaint is that Scooby has either gotten deeper or has been given more lines.
Too bad Fred didn't get the girl. The characterizations and writing make it a different set-up than we've usually seen before with Fred, and with no jealousy from Daphne and no returned feelings from Beth (unless you count how she turned him in the end), it was a little odd, but something I'd like to more of in the future to what else can be done with it (and I'm glad there was no jealousy in this series). So I'm not complaining, and I thought it was cute how he first saw her and how he tried to impress, it's just not how I expected it to be, and like I said there was kind of an odd "emptiness" to it.
It's disappointing that the song wasn't credited, and I'm glad that there actually was a song with lyrics, because the way it started up, it would've been a let down to just hear nothing.
Overall, I'm not sure what I think about this episode. I would watch it again, but I just felt there was this strange quiet, emptiness to it. And believe it or not, I'm also having sinus issues, so it's a strange connection I have with Velma at this point, so that might be a factor why I wasn't feeling this episode that much. But I still thank JCB and the crew for what they did. And not to Cartoon Network who are screwing around again.

I also wasn't expecting the scarecrow to be two people and I think the end fell a bit flat because of it. I mean, how many times can you do the old "reveal the monster is really two people" bit? I thought it was a little funny how they weren't arrested because they didn't sue each other, so that settled that then. LOL. I think there was a scene where Fred disappeared into some hay, which I found amusing.

I'm just glad you guys seem to be talking about the show and the characters within the context of THIS show and OUR characters. It seems, at least, like the look of it and the new personality traits and comedy style are kinda settled into for many people and now it's just a matter of liking certain things better than others, which is great.
And, yes, we use 3 different animation studios and some people can usually tell which one does which episode. I don't really dead with that side of things, but I picture the entire episode in my head while writing it and then wait nine months with my fingers crossed that the storyboard guys, the directors, the execs and the studios end up putting something on the screen that gets somewhat close to what I had in mind. A lot of it is about communication and, as I've said, I think things got better as we went along.
I know CN is doing strange things again, but if I can ask a favor from you guys, it would be to spread the word (I mean, if you actually like the show). So many people wouldn't give it a chance after seeing the original art and I really think we're making a funny smart, original Scooby show that deserves to be seen by a wide audience. I'm happy going grassroots with it and just telling everyone to post, blog, tweet, comment, etc - and let people know it's worth giving a chance. To me, the show gets even better from this point on (there's always gonna be a few bumps here and there) but, for the most part, many of my all time favorites are gonna start airing soon.
Either way, thank again for watching our little show, guys. Your thoughtful comments (good or bad) mean a lot to me.
xo JCB

I'm enjoying this episode so far! I wonder why Velma all of a sudden has hay fever though. I guess before she was taking medication? I love that Daphne was trying to find a friend like Scooby. Maybe a dog of her own one day? I can't see why Scooby doesn't offer to bond with her though. I kind of wish that Fred got that girl's number, it would have interesting to pop up later in the series. Love the ending where the villain is someone you don't expect.
Can't wait for the next one!

I didn't think this was the best episode, but I'm glad the rest of you like it. I liked Fred flirting with Beth and the conclusion they had. Daphne's quirk for this one annoyed me, Scooby and Daphne are no Shaggy/Scooby but they're still close. Velma's hay fever was funny. Scooby and Shaggy didn't have much to do, but I thought the jokes they made were really funny. The mystery was okay. Oh I really loved the opening and I liked how Daphne still calls her parents (Mother and Dad, she did that in the original and I call mine that too, it leads to confusion after I tell people though )
