Who thinks there should have been a fourth season? I won't deny I wouldn't have minded a fourth season, as this is my favorite Scooby series, in terms of overall quality...and the fact I remember it quite well since I was born in the late 90s, however I'm not suprised there wasn't one. There's only so many monsters they could come up with before the writers would no doubt get burnt out and Warner Bros likely wanted to make something new and put their own mark on the franchise. Plus unless I'm mistaken either William Hanna or Joseph Barbera (the one which died last) along with several of older Hanna Barbera guys, including Iwao Takamoto, had involvement in the show be it direct involvement as it was produced or involement in planning it. Hence it's excellent older influences in terms of design with much needed updates here and there. Thus I presume when they died off as the show went along the remaining people decided to make a new show instead. Which is perfectly understandable. And then we got Get a Clue...

I wouldn't have minded a fourth season, but like grumpydrawer said I think WB would probably run out of ideas for the series after a while and the show would get kind of stale.

A 4th season would have been good. Maybe a season with guest stars! Or a season where each episode is modeled often a TV series...like Dr. Who, NCIS, CSI, Firefly, etc. That could open up their options.

I miss Gibby Norton.
He makes an appearance in a few of the Scoboy-Doo You choose books, but never in any episodes.

Who thinks there should have been a fourth season? And then we got Get a Clue... And then we got Mystery Incorporated... In my opinion, Be Cool is the only good show since What's New.

I think WNSD outstayed its welcome with the DTVs, but that's just me.

I have to respectfully disagree with you, I think SDMI blew all the other shows out of the water. I honestly wish SDMI would have gotten a third season and I would have liked to see where they would have ended up after going to that mysterious college with the new Mr. E.

That's what most people think, but in my opinion, SDMI was really weird. It added romance, turned Velma into some sort mean character, had a lot of guns and weapons and sci-fi stuff, and things like that. I've always been curious why people like it. Is it because it's different from the other incarnations? Also, they got transported to a world without mysteries then they went off to solve mysteries.

Honestly, all of those things you mentioned as bad things, I think are alright. Mainly because they made the series seem more mature. I don't really like be cool because it seems like its made for 5 year olds, SDMI was darker and more mysterious and that is what I liked about it. I also enjoyed it because it had the underlying theme of the planispheric disk throughout the two seasons, which really connected each episode and both seasons. I don't believe any other scooby doo show had anything like that before.

I don't believe any other scooby doo show had anything like that before. I'll chuck in my metaphorical two cents on the matter. Personally I don't think SDMI is bad, it did bring back the Hex Girls after all (Sure it screwed them up first time around but they fixed them in their Season 2 apperance, Season 2 fixed lots of little stuff I didn't like), however it wasn't really my taste and I think it's unfair to say it blew anything out of the water. I have nothing against dark things it's just that for me Scooby Doo is meant to be funny mixed with dark/horror, at the very least amusing. SDMI achieved none of that for me. Plus I hated how Velma was. Still it isn't bad, just not my taste and I accept that. If I want dark Scooby Doo I'll watch Zombie Island or Witch's Ghost, which balanced humour and dark themes perfectly. Be Cool on the other hand has given me a ton of amusement and several very good laughs (mainly at one or two jokes per episode). However I won't lie, it isn't really my taste but that's ineveitable. It is aimed at the younger auidence after all and it acheves that brillantly. My main problem with it is the art style (and Daphne). Then again I didn't like SDMI's art style much at first too, but I came around to it as it fits the theme. Well that and I've found most apects of SDMI's design that I hate in one character, eg Daphne's dot eyes, I liked in another character, Thorn's eyes in this instance. "Though I will say that the characters (as in their animation) feel more alive in Be Cool than SDMI, where they just felt like lifeless dolls at times. Plus I like how Be Cool has gone back to that traveling round to different places to stumble upon mysteries mechanic, which I missed in SDMI (though again it worked for what SDMI was going for, eg mysteries revolving round one place). I suppose to put it simply both are good shows for different reasons. Let's be honest the only recent Scooby show which was bad was Get a Clue...though I did like the theme song.

I think overall What's New and Be Cool are the closest thing TV-wise that WB have gotten to the original. What's New could've kept going, but like has been said it would've got old, and Scooby's always been about changing and adpating for better or worse. Although there's nothing to say that What's New itself couldn't have been redone. The films based on that series seemed to be going into real monsters direction by the end and was starting to get it's own groove before that team were replaced with Tony and Spike, and several others, who tried to take things bac to the original, which in my opinion was for better or worse, too.
I like SDMI, but at times it doesn't seem anything like Scooby, especially that whole Red Room arc, and never ending pop culture references. Yeah, yeah, WAY was based on Dobie Gillis. But SDMI could've been more original. I also think that the writers couldn't write drama properly. They brought on Michael F. Ryan for season 2, but he didn't exactly make things any better. But it's not the bigger things I like, it's the little things here and there, with jokes they put in.

I do respect your opinion and I think they both are good shows, but, I think be cool tried to hard to be a comedy, when it really should be about mysteries. If I want to laugh at a cartoon, I'll watch the simpsons or family guy. I feel like be cool has moved scooby doo from a more serious mystery show to a funny show, SDMI, however kept scooby doo as a mystery show and yes it was dark at times, but it also had its funny moments. Again I do think there is some merit to your opinion I just don't agree with it.

But it's not the bigger things I like, it's the little things here and there, with jokes they put in. One of the main reasons I like SDMI is because it is a little different, if I wanted to watch an original scooby doo tv episode then I would watch the old scooby doo show (1969-1970) or WNSD but I feel like this get boring after a while, SDMI was something new and different that I think added a lot to the scooby doo franchise. It added maturity and spookiness that, in my opinion, is left out in most of the other scooby doo shows and even the other movies, besides a few like zombie island or a witches ghost. Be cool is just meant to make people laugh, and thats great but I don't watch scooby doo just to laugh, I watch it for the mystery, which in be cool, where there is about 3 characters and you know which one is the villain right away, is severely lacking. But I do agree with you that WNSD is closer to the original scooby doo than SDMI, but SDMI shows a different side of scooby doo, and in my opinion makes it more interesting and fun to watch.

For SDMI, I think I liked season 1 more than season 2. I liked the first 13 episodes especially, and "Nightfright" from the second half.
