I'm not really sure on the timeframe of this show. It's supposed to be during summer. We don't know when they graduated or when summer began when "Mystery 101" aired (I did kind of think when first seeing Shaggy and Scooby with the cake that was their own kind of celebration). Unless "Scary Christmas" is celebrating a Christmas in July, as a pre-Christmas to the Christmas in December, I don't know what the heck is going on.
In short, I hope there's a rationale explanation for celebrating Christmas in summer.

I actually though about this too, and the only thing I've seen that says summer is the press releases...I've never actually heard any of the people working on the show say it is during summer. It's possible that the press release got it wrong or maybe the people working on the show decided to change it later. It would probably be a good question to ask JCB though.

I planned on asking. The back off the DVD says it's summer, too. It might not be set in summer. But I think if any episode implied it, it's the first episode, as that fits into the graduation side off the press release, too.

Yeah, I had that question too. "Mystery 101" hints that the series is set after school, in summer (Velma booking interviews for colleges), and "All Paws on Deck" definitely seemed like a short summer vacation for the gang. I'd like to hear the answer to that question too. Although I didn't mind a Christmas special.

It may not be the most satisfying answer, but the real answer is this: when Zac and I came on board the show, they already had that basic "summer after high school" idea written on some press release stuff, even though we hadn't even created the show yet. We figured we'd try it out and, for the most part, it basically works - we can say MOST episodes take place then - BUT, like PHineas and Ferb's Christmas Vacation episode (Zac and I did together), which also doesn't take place in summer, we will have some episodes that take place during other parts of the year either before or after that main summer.

Is the gremlins on a plane episode related to El Bandito? Like, are they flying to Mexico etc. or anything, I mean like that

Mm, I see. Thanks for answering. *sighs* I hope they air new episodes soon, I miss the show....

We've got a bunch of episodes ready to go. Some of my favorites are coming up and, personally, I think they get better and better as we move into season 2, so just hang in there guys. I can't wait for you to see what's in store.

Can't wait!! Personal apology to JCB for buzzing him with PMs about the show's music.

I look forward to new episodes, and I hope there's some closure on the college front. Just because it's the whole "The gang are carefree beach bums", which has nothing to do with Be Cool, but I'd like to see another "Okay, so I have to go to college now, but what will happen to the gang?" kind of thing. Wow! Season 2.

Cases before and after summer? Sounds like they're on a gap year for the post summer cases.

The whole "summer" thing was an idea that was tossed around before Zac and I got here. We didn't mind the idea, so we didn't go out of our way to change the promo stuff that was written. That said - and despite "Mystery 101" backing up the idea - we aren't being slaves to the concept, preferring to follow the stories and ideas that interest us and explore the characters best regardless of the season. Unlike SDMI, we're not going for any large over-arcing story, here. We DO plan, however, to reveal more and more about the gang and flesh out their histories and backstories more as we go. Stay tuned!

Stay tuned! Exactly. When it comes down to it the idea of Be Cool (or what I presume it is) is that each episode is meant to be enjoyed as it is, aka you could jump in at any point and enjoy/understand the episode since as you put it jcb there isn't a "over-arcing story." Though the episode do all join together to some extent they can stand alone too...if that makes any sense. In short time of the year doesn't matter that much when it comes to Scooby (unless it was an SDMI-esc thing), with the exception of if it was a Halloween/Harvest Festival/Christmas/Easter/ epiosde, since for those the time of year is quite important.

Exactly. That said, as a writer, I'm as sucker for running gags and callbacks, so for those paying attention you WILL notice episodes referring to other episodes and reoccurring jokes and ideas. Of course, none of those things would get in the way of any particular episode standing alone, as well. I mean, in some ways, we make this show with the assumption that everyone knows what "Scooby Doo" is and its basic characters, themes and history.

I understand and have no problem with an episode not having to be in any particular order (except for small callbacks, which gives the tiniest bit of continuity, which I also like), but I still like that there's some kind of order to them, because there's the issue right at the beginning in the first series where "A Clue for Scooby Doo" and "Hassle in the Castle" either follow like that or back to front. That's got nothing to do with you obviously, and I have nothing against what you set out to do, but I would like for some consistency at the end of the day (which I'm not going to hold you to that, it's just my personal preference that once Cartoon Network airs it, then that should be the order, and hope that becomes a fixed order). If that makes any sense. Cartoons do this all the time, it's not unusual at all to go from winter to summer than back to winter, etc. I originally bought this up because it suddenly dawned on me that it had gone beyond summer, which what all the press was talking about. The fact that this isn't being a series timed over a summer like the original Ben 10, for example, I don't have a problem with. It was never a complaint against the writing or the people involved that they had done this massive continuity flaw. I am grateful you explained what went on and everything.
