I remember getting quite bored with this episode... Maybe I'll have to give it a second chance...

Meh. One of my least favorites. Juan Carlos wasn't a particularly well-design ghost, and the whole fortress set-up while neat wasn't used to it's fullest potential IMO.
It is interesting that this is John Stephenson's last major role on the show as an actual monster though, for a while.

It's interesting to me how a lot of people seem to dislike this episode, I actually thought this was one of the better episodes of Season 3, especially with the plot twist where Shaggy and Scooby try to keep the mystery hidden from the rest of the gang. Although I agree that Juan Carlos's ghost was poorly designed, to me he almost looked like a regular person.

Although I agree that Juan Carlos's ghost was poorly designed, to me he almost looked like a regular person. I thought he just looked like a regular 17th century soldier, not much else to him, while he's probably not the least creatively designed monster, The Phantom of Vasquez takes that honor for me, even though I love that monster, he's certainly one of the more uninteresting, especially considering The Scooby Doo Show probably had the best monster designs overall. I'll admit that Shaggy and Scooby trying to keep the mystery hidden from the gang was a nice slight change for the episode, I just didn't particularly care for the episode itself.

This episode was everywheeeeeeere on Cartoon Network. Definately in the top 5 most ran Scooby episodes. Like the rest, not very ecstatic about this one. It had good moments, but still on the boring side in this incarnation.

I thought it was funny that they tried to lie to everyone else but beyond that it was alright. Juan Carlos just looked like a normal guy though

Plot: This was a weird episode. The humor is out of the ordinary, and there were some unusual plotlines. For example, Shaggy and Scooby were trying to hide the mystery from the others, which in fact was very interesting. The rest of the episode is quite meh, though. The plot twist with the secret agent/policeman is overused by now, and the mystery overall wasn't that interesting. 6/10
Villain: I think the ghost of Juan Carlos has the laziest and most boring design of any monster or villain in the show. He was an interesting antagonist and a real threat to the gang, though. 6/10
Final Score: 6/10
Merry Christmas everybody!
