The running gag of Shaggy and Scooby dressing up as Commander Cool and Mellow Mutt was great! And Dr. Croaker was a cool villain.

Commander Keen was a popular computer game of the same time period. Likely an influence for the name at least.

It was funny. Not the best one, though.

One of the best episodes. Actually the highest rated on IMDB. The comic book superheroes were fun. Dr. Croaker was an awesome villain too

I was able to easily figure out Dr. Croaker's true identity by his voice. When I first heard him speak early in the episode, I recognized Charlie Adler doing his voice. So then I listened for another likely suspect that Charlie Adler also voiced, and then when Wendell McWendell spoke when he came on I was like "That's the villain!" Charlie Adler's voices are so distinctive, it's impossible to miss them. (It probably also comes from years of watching "Tiny Toon Adventures," "Cow and Chicken" and "Rocko's Modern Life", where he was a prominent main voice actor in those three shows.) Though Charlie Adler also voiced that boy Mr. Cashmore ripped off (basically using his Buster Bunny voice from "Tiny Toon Adventures"), I figured he couldn't be the crook as he was such a minor character in the story and a bit too young to have pulled off the heist. Wendell McWendell seemed more likely to do it than that boy.

This is my second favorite of the series at the moment (behind A Bicycle Built for Boo) because this is one of the absolute funniest episodes of Scooby Doo I have ever seen. The interrogation scene and all of the mistakes when they are trying to change into their superhero costumes are a blast. This episode and this series in general is just so much fun. Not to mention, even with a seemingly silly crime of stealing comic books, the motive behind it was actually really clever on the writer's part and pretty creative as well. This is one of the greats
