The name itslef sounds very puzzling - and funny - and I liked this episode.

Indeed but i guess the sad part is i guess the band never got back together. Unless they replaced Lila.

Pretty solid episode. The identity of Mambo Wambo was quite obvious, but it was great to meet more of the gangs friends with Alex Super (who I'm pretty sure was voiced by Micky Dolenz of Monkees Fame), and his group.
I also appreciate the callback to this episode in Frankencreepy. That was nice.

This episode was very weird and I prefer the original SDWAY zombie to this one.

Like this one. Not one of the best from this season, but it is certainly an interesting one

I think this is my least favourite of Series 1, or at least joint with Bum Steer. As mentioned in another thread it feels more like a HB pilot episode at times and the mystery just doesn't do much to excite. The big saving grace for me is the spooky swamp setting and particularly the southern plantation.

I think it has to do with the setting, like you mentioned. Easily a better setting than my current least favorite of season 1, The Ghost That Sacked the Quarterback (Even as a big American football fan). I have an appreciation for this one

I have an appreciation for this one I've kinda went the opposite way. Years ago I would've taken this over Quarterback, in a heartbeat but that one has grown on me, greatly, while Mamba's appeal has lessened. Interesting how episodes we've probably seen dozens of times still go up and down the rankings frequently.

Did anyone notice the animation looked kind of "off" in this episode compared to the other 1976 episodes? It looks like it was animated at Hanna-Barbera Australia, as at times it looks similar to the 1973 "New Scooby-Doo Movies" episodes animated in Australia but somewhat less sloppy, while the other 1976 episodes were animated in-house at H-B's Hollywood facilities.

You're definitely right. I noticed "The Creepy Heap from the Deep" and "Creepy Cruise" had the same HB Australia animation style. Again, much smoother than the 1973 episodes but altogether worse looking then the in-house animation.

Plot: There are tons of original ideas in this episode. Things like voodoo dolls and cursed songs made this a particularly interesting mystery (and were used again even in movies like Zombie Island and Music of the Vampire). The band was a cool addition too; they were pretty likeable. On the other hand, it had a huge issue. It was very easy to figure out what was happening and who was behind all that. Also, Mamba Wamba wanting Alex to sign a parchment vowing to never play the sacred chant again felt quite stupid to me. 7/10
Set Up: The setting of the creepy, dark swamp was great, but the questionable animation didn't let me enjoy it as much as I wanted. 7/10
Villain(s): I don't like Mamba Wamba's design too much, but his curse made him interesting. I loved Zombie and Zombified Lila, though. Their appearance was chilling and eerie. Unpopular opinion: I like this zombie more than the SDWAY version. 8/10
Final Score: 7.3/10
