A solid ending to the greatest cartoon of all time in my mind I've been talking a lot about how this episode was under appreciated and deserved more attention, but it had been a while since I had seen it myself. Rewatched it for the first time in a while, and even I had been under appreciating this episode from where I did have it because it is absolutely fantastic. It is now just outside of my top 10 of the series at number 11 just behind Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Werewolf

It is now just outside of my top 10 of the series at number 11 just behind Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Werewolf I tend to get a bittersweet feeling, when watching this episode now. Perhaps it's because of how integral this one was to my childhood, (I watched on VHS a lot) or that it's the final episode of the original series. But whenever that "Pretty Mary Sunlight" comes on I always get a light wave of sad nostalgia. Strange how a 50y/o cartoon can stick with you so much haha.

It's a solid farewell episode that's actually very fast-paced. There were missed opportunities with this one. The first appearance of The Wax Phantom is what they should've stayed with. The wax museum is one of the creepiest locations from Scooby Doo imo. It starts off spooky after the gang leaves the studio but then it does get more lighthearted with "Pretty Mary Sunlight". Again succeeds with capturing the farewell sentimentality with some great set-pieces but this could've been very creepy.

This is slowly rising to be one of my very favourites of the series, again. It was my #1 all through childhood and it'll be interesting to see if it ever reaches that position again.

Plot: A nice ending to a great series A small but interesting mystery full of horror and some nice humor. I also liked how creepy Mr. Grisby was and how the writers wanted us to suspect him. I always dig that. 9/10 Set Up: I find wax museums scary. A wax museum with monster wax statues is super scary. I also liked Mr. Grisby's house. That's my ideal setting for a Scooby-Doo episode. 10/10 Monster:Like the witch doctor, the wax phantom had a cool first appearance but isn't really a memorable villain. 6/10
BONUS Nostalgia Boost: +0
Overall, a great final episode with a cool mystery and an awesome setting, but with a kinda boring villain. Final Score:8.3/10
