A good episode that ultimately led to a second series. I'm so glad Scooby didn't end there! We all know that this is probably the best Scooby-Doo show around, though I'm kinda used to others. But it's totally worth watching. 9.5/10

The opening to this episode is a pretty creepy appearance for the Wax Phantom. Although not really a favorite episode of mine, it stands out most to me in this one.

It's a good episode, I love Scooby and Shaggy's dance! It's a perfect final episode for SDWAY.

Good final episode for the series. The Wax Phantom is quite creepy, and the mystery itself is quite well-done. Although there is a goof, in which we see the culprit with the wax phantom, when it first appears, although I imagine that was an animation error.

This was a pretty decent episode. Interesting villain and decent plot. This episode doesn't air very much so many haven't seen it

Sorry to bump this almost 2 years old thread... I just watched the episode for the first time in a few years. I knew the plot and other basic stuff from it but as with most of the other Scooby episodes I don't re-watch them on a regular basis. I think this is one of the episodes I watched the least amount of times, for whatever reasons.
All in all, I liked it. The mystery was fine and the Wax Phantom looked pretty cool. The stuff with Grisby was intriguing. A little too obvious for him to be responsible for the ghost, though. I was kind of expecting him to appear again at the end and clear his name or something. I imagine if the show was re-made today, they would have fit in a gag like that as well. His design also kind of reminded me of Elias Kingston from "What the Hex Going On?", only with white hair.
Some more random thoughts: - The cameo of Black Widow/Spider Woman as the wax figure that hands Scooby the food. She was a villain on the original Space Ghost cartoon. She later appeared on Johnny Bravo, as well.
- Shaggy's comments about the Wax Phantom's plan to turn them into wax dummies cracked me up. "Like that went out with silent movies, Phantom old pal."
- The chase song was pretty cool. I think there was a time when Cartoon Network used to air this clip as a music video.
- I always thought it looked like Fred was about to hit Stevens with that hammer once more, even after breaking the wax off of him.

Thanks! I browsed through these boards a bunch of times in the past, so I figured I should finally join. Kind of weird that my first post would be about the final episode of the original show.

This was my absolute favourite episode when I was younger! It's not quite up there anymore but it's still a brilliant little mystery and such a solid way to end, what is, my best-loved animated TV show of all time.
Mystery: 9/10 Villain: 9.5/10 Setting: 8.5/10
Overall Score: 9/10
