WBCP has outlined franchise developments that will include new content, consistent digital and free-to-air TV exposure.Pointing-Scooby-lol-copy300
Paul Bufton, general manager, WBCP UK, said: “Scooby-Doo continues to demonstrate its ability to entertain and engage not just fans but also licensees and retailers who reap the positive benefits of an association with this classic brand. A great example is our recent nationwide promotion with Brewers Fayre who saw sales rise in 95% of its restaurants that were running the Scooby-Doo promotion. Put simply, Scooby-Doo is a brand that drives revenue.”
WBCP will support three new feature-length animated Scooby-Doo DVDs to be released in 2014 by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group, including Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery released for Easter, Scooby-Doo! Field of Screams for May half-term and Scooby-Doo! Frankencreepy for Halloween, a key period for the franchise.
Scooby-Doo is also the subject of two live stage shows in 2014. Scooby-Doo! Mystery of the Pyramid opened this month and will tour the UK and Ireland for four months visiting 23 towns and cities. In addition, Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Fred, Velma and Daphne have just taken up a two-year residency at Butlin’s across its three sites in a new show.
In terms of licensing partnerships, Scooby-Doo retains long-term relationships with global master toy partner Character Group, which has been a partner for 15 years and continues to invest heavily in the brand. Character Group has a robust and innovative product development plan that will see the company launch multiple new product lines over the next 18 months. The first product in this new phase, the Scooby-Doo Monsters In The Dark Mystery Machine, a 2-in-1 play-set that sees the Mystery Machine open out and turn into a torch, has just launched at retailers nationwide.
The franchise also continues to attract new licensing partners, most recently children’s publisher Curious Fox, which will be launching a range of Scooby-Doo books, and Beechdean, which will be launching a range of premium Scooby-Doo ice-cream treats in Q2 2014.
