I just thought it was funny that Daphne would always go along with they groups antics in this one! Whether it was dressing up in disguises or trying to fool the ghosts into letting them go or giving them the upper hand, Daphne was always there too! She was pretty comedic all throughout this series while also taking the more mature leadership role. I loved that about her. This is something that she would never have previously done with Fred and Velma around, and something she never does anymore. I'd love for her to occasionally split up with Shaggy and Scooby in a future series and be involved in their antics again, even only just once in a while.

*enters late to the party*
I honestly think that the portrayal of Daphne is part of what I loved most about this series. In most series incarnations, Daphne is just the pretty girl in the background, or the clumsy girl who accidentally finds a clue or gets herself kidnapped. In 13 Ghost's, Daphne was given a bigger role because there weren't as many characters to contend with for screen time. She was fleshed out a bit more and given a personality. I also thought it was nice that her personality growth seemed to follow what The New Scooby-Doo Movies had set up. If you notice, that series was really what started the Daphne/Shaggy likeness and made the distinction between the brains and fearless - Velma and Fred - and the...chickens, for lack of a better term, who would really rather not - Daphne, Shaggy and Scooby. Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? had a few of those moments but I really think that the movies started focusing more on making Daphne a person rather than a tag-along.

Welcome to the party even though you're late haha. I'm Jinkies, feel free to message me with any questions. I agree with your stand point though. c:

I'd love for the return of this Daphne. It's too bad they screwed up when they gave the series the reboot treatment. The first four films show just how wonderful the series could've been if WB treated it properly and respected the HB universe/timeline.

The first four films show just how wonderful the series could've been if WB treated it properly and respected the HB universe/timeline. Agreed completely. I honestly think that Cyber Chase is what messed up their later incarnations of Scooby-Doo. It was a decent enough movie but if you look at it in comparison to the likes of Witch's Ghost and Alien Invaders, it really falls flat. (And don't even get me started on how it compares to Zombie Island.) The first three movies took the series in a more serious direction with real scares and actual dangers and, while Alien Invaders was a bit of a regression from the first two, Cyber Chase completely returned to old-Scooby. Then when they tried to recreate old Scooby with the Pup Named Scooby-type hilarity - which wasn't the greatest combination in the world - in What's New, they found that they had new-age competition and, unfortunately, that competition was stock-full of teenage drama and romance and the like, which is where Mystery Inc comes in. Only problem is they didn't realize that adding all that teenage drama and romance and what not would throw off Scooby-fans; that that's not what we wanted. I assume that this is where Be Cool is going to come in. I can only hope that it restores the old Scooby-vibe and gets rid of all this Degrassi nonsense in my Scooby media.

I love how she was portrayed in this series. It's actually one of my favorites of all time. This was the one series where I actually liked Daphne. There were no feminazi "We have to make Daphne look better than the male characters" moments with her like in the new shows; nor was she helpless and whiny. She was just a good companion. I mentioned that one of my favorite episodes is That's Monstertainment.I keep mentioning the part when they are at Daphne's mansion watching late night horror movies. Daphne comes downstairs in her house robe wondering why they are still up at "2 AM" but easily relaxes into watching TV with Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy. I have to agree again; I really like Daphne in the 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo.

Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? had a few of those moments but I really think that the movies started focusing more on making Daphne a person rather than a tag-along. They failed miserably on Daphne in the What's New Scooby Doo series and in many of the movies. She was either doing Karate moves like Xena the Warrior Princess while suddenly becoming extremely smart, an entrepreneur, and the boss of Fred; or she was tripping over her own heels and whining. I did not like either of those versions. The one in the 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo seemed well....more human. She was vulnerable, but not weak. She wasn't portrayed as the brains while everyone else was made out to be completely stupid. IMO if you have to dumb everyone else down to make Daphne look smart then she must not be that bright at all. This Daphne was funny, helpful, and much more. I think the Daphne in 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo seemed more mature. She wasn't an entitled teen who needed saving 24/7. Nor was she some kind of feminist icon challenging male characters and fitting all kinds of PC gender war stereotypes. She was just a good character and she helped make the series enjoyable. My favorites however will always be Shaggy and Scooby. Heck, even Scrappy was helpful in the 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo. They don't make good shows like that anymore.

You really seem to dislike stronger female characters. Art imitates life and when they made Daphne to be a bit more versatile it was due to feminine issues in real life at the time, like many shows do. Here it seems like Daphne is either too dumb or too smart, too involved or too passive; I honestly never knew there was this big "hate on Daphne" group until I signed up here. You know the reason they kept her around while the rest of the gang disappeared in the 80's? Because she, Shaggy and Scooby were the top three favorite characters of the show.

First off, feminism isn't a hate group, it's a movement about equality for women and most feminists don't hate men they just want to be known as equals. You're talking about feminist extremists and since I don't see any of those around right now that makes you the only hater here. Secondly I'm not an older woman, I'm only 24 and feminism isn't just a Caucasian woman's issue; there are women of all backgrounds and races who feel this way. I'm not catching feelings over a cartoon, I'm simply making a statement that it seems the creators of Scooby-Doo can't make you happy; the character is either too weak or too strong. You've been posting your feminism hate in various threads all over the forum and it seems like you're here to spread your own hate more than you are to talk about Scooby-Doo.
It would be super nice if you could stick to the original topic of this forum instead of getting sidetracked.

Most feminists excluding the extremists just want to be recognized as equal to men. We're not all men haters. Anyway as you said, it would be very pleasant if y'all could stick to the topic.

Indeed, please keep this on topic and please keep it friendly. You can dislike whatever you like, but do not turn it personal against another member or attack their beliefs or opinions.

I'd really like to see Daphne go off with Shaggy and Scooby more often in a future show or movie. It would be nice to see them bonding again, or just having fun together like they did in the 80s. There's so much that could be done with the two if only to set-up for jokes/comedy.

These two really play off of each other very well, you can even see it in certain episodes of newer series' like What's New. Daphne and Shaggy just work so well together, even if there's no shippy stuff going on.
