I have to say, this is probably one of my favorite episodes out of the entire Scooby franchise. It brought two amazing shows together with a pretty interesting mystery. It was nice to have The Pussycats back on earth for one last mystery to solve. They really went out with a bang. The episode really did justice to both of the franchises and I would have loved another episode with the two, or for another season of The Pussycats. One flaw though was that a chase song wasn't included here of all episodes. Jerry Reed and Davey Jones got to re-record songs, why couldn't the pussycats with anonymous session singers again like their "Outer Space" counterparts? I'm guessing they couldn't include an old song due to licensing issues or whatever, so they just reused the instrumental version of "You Need Love" from "The Pussycats In Outer Space" at the end of the episode. Still, it was nice seeing Alexandra's antics and Melody's goofiness mixed in with the Scooby gang!

I agree.... this was one of the better NSDM episodes. Yeah! It's always going to be my favorite! I just love that two of my favorite cartoons got together for an awesome mystery! --- This episode would have been much better with a chase song, as seen here!

I wouldn't say "favorite", but I'll give it another shot.

This is my second favorite NSDM episode; I absolutely love Josie and the Pussycats! Josie and the gang coming along for a Scooby-Doo mystery ride was just amazing and I always loved catching this one on TV as a kid. Having Casey Kasem as Alexander Cabot and Shaggy was like a dream come true for me - they're two of my favorite Casey Kasem-voiced cartoon characters. (And don't even get me started on Don Messick's antics as both Sebastian and Scooby! Oh my fandom-crossover heart.) Melody was always my favorite character and I loved that, even though this crossover has so many characters to contend with for screen-time that her crazy antics were able to have a little bit of spotlight; I mean what would a JatPC appearance be without Melody? And my shipper heart loves that she and Alexander split off alone together to clean the showboat. The only thing I really don't like is all the licensing issues that prevented the pussycats from performing chase music/an ending musical number and the fact that this apparently can't be released on DVD with the rest of the movies because JatPC belong to Archie. Licensing and legalities notwithstanding, this was definitely one of the best episodes of NSDM and I absolutely loved it.

I loved when they split off together! Alexandra was always so cruel to that poor girl. They REALLY need to release this episode, along with the other missing ones. The episodes they haven' released included some of the better plots/stars. I do wish this episode had a chase song though, even if it was just a re-used "Outer Space" song. I have a thread about Josie here! Feel free to post there if you want to discuss anything about the series!

Yeah, supposedly among the other unreleased shows were the ones with Batman and Robin, which were pretty interesting, not to mention Laurel and Hardy and The Addams Family. (And the one with Laurel and Hardy is my third favorite episode behind the one with Speed Buggy and this one. ) I'm honestly not entirely sure I understand the licensing issue with JatPC either. I mean sure Archie Comics created Josie and they've been known to be pretty strict about their characters and comics, you can't even write for their characters on fanfiction net, but the cartoon was a Hanna-Barbera production so what, they had the licensing/permission to use the characters in not one but two cartoons and the right to use some of the characters in Laff A Lympics but they didn't have the permission to have a crossover with Scooby-Doo? Those three were my favorite characters too but I have to add Sebastian, everyone's favorite snickering cat. (Love Don Messick.) Melody is my favorite, though and I totally ship her with Alexander because that's just how I roll.

Great crossover idea, and pretty decent execution. It was a bit silly seeing Shaggy and Alexander talking to each other though, they practically spoke with the same bits of dialogue coming out of both. Not surprisingly given that Casey Kasem voiced both, but it was a bit distracting in a few scenes, I'll admit.

This was a cool pairing and a pretty decent episode. I loved the setting of the showboat which was very original. It did feel stretched at the end and the ghosts were meh. I did love the character interaction

You know, judging by how that scene played out, I'm betting they were originally planning to have a "Josie and the Pussycats" song play during that chase sequence, but they were unable to license the rights to any of them at the time, so they ended up just using the "Black Knight Chase" music cue looping like a broken record. (The main "Josie" series used that cue a lot as well, but still.) Here's an alternate take on that someone did, using "Lie, Lie, Lie" (which was written by none other than Danny Janssen and Austin Roberts!)

This is one of my favorites as well, probably my favorite from the second season. Felt like Scooby and the gang paired up well with Josie and the Pussycats. I also just really liked a lot of the humor in this episode as well as the setting and the mystery. Really like this one

First time watching this and I have to say I enjoyed it quite a lot. I actually felt like I didn't like it at first but after a few hours I wanted to watch it again for some reason. Maybe cuz I do love the concept of mystery solving teams joining forces

I'm guessing they didn't have a chase song play under that scene due to H-B being cheap, as the second season was noticeably produced on a lower budget than the first (what with being cheaply animated by Hanna-Barbera Australia). Here, I inserted the "Roadrunner" song (as I felt it fit the best with this scene), and also added the appropriate sound effects (doing my best to replicate how the original was, thanks to having the H-B sound effects library at my disposal) and the laugh track at the two points it was heard during the chase. Enjoy!

Plot: I really liked the plot in this one, especially the teamwork to save the boat. Also, it had some great plot twists in the end (not the one where the most suspicious guy is really an undercover agent, though, because we saw it 3–4 times before in the series). PS: Why was everyone so short-tempered in this episode lol? 8/10 Set Up: The setting would have been great if the animation wasn't so bad in this one. The river and the swampy environment were cool, though. 7/10 Monster(s): Typical lazy TNSDM ghost designs. They were decent antagonists and a real threat to the gang, though. 6/10
BONUS Guest Stars: This was the first and only time I saw Josie and the Pussycats. I found Alexandra and Melody pretty annoying. The rest were OK. 6/10 Nostalgia Boost:+0
Final Score:6.8/10
