Ok guys, we all have opinions, but let's not insult one another or the creative talent of this new series (it's just rude since jcb comes here on his own free will to interact with us) It's ok to be hesitant or even not looking forward to this particular incarnation of the franchise, but let's not start a war over something that none of us has seen a single full episode of.

I'm not the only one who thinks it will fail or doesn't like new Scooby-Doo. Some on YouTube and Fanfiction agree with me. I'm not trying to hurt anyone on this site. I'm just annoyed the Shaphne and Scrappy fans aren't getting what they want.

The world is full of glass half empty and glass half full people. It is difficult for the half full to live life from a half empty point of view and vice versa. Just try and enjoy respectful diversity and think what the world would be like with a singular point of view. I would believe the answer would be dull, very dull.

And the line at the Scooby ride would be impossibly long...

While I am not a Scrappy fan, or one who cares about a particular pairing of characters, I do understand the frustrations Scrappy fans have been going through for a long time. Who knows? Maybe in a possible season two, Scrappy joins in and gets the spotlight you are craving. Bottom line, and this goes for all posters here; if you respect the opinion of other's, they will respect yours. Be respectful when disagreeing with one another. Ok? We all cool now? (He says in the "Be Cool" thread )

Right now it is popular to hate on scrappy, but at some point the tide will turn and someone who is a fan or someone who wants to change things away from the present expectations will be in charge of a scooby series and Scrappy will not be fodder for the haters. If you are not getting what you want currently, It's easier to deal with when you have patience and the ability to find enjoyable aspects in the now.

Yes, I have nothing to do with the scheduling, but I will say this: I just finished writing the last episode of season one and will begin writing season two next week. Try to wrap your minds around that - I can't. Omg I'm surprised - In a good way, so excited +I wanted to ask you if there's any possibility that you could make a Hex Girl episode? Because I love them, I think they would fit with the plot/direction of Be Cool and I think it would "be cool" (see what I did here haha ) to have them again since they're like a part of each series... I and I think many fans would be happy to have them again And like always, thanks for taking the time to comment with us (fans) and work so hard on BC... I really appreciate it I can't make any promises, but I will see if I can come up with a fun way of bringing in the Hex Girls for you, alf. Thanks for your kind words.

The non-Shaphne and non-Scrappy fans already have a bunch of shows to watch so it would fair to give the Shaphne and Scrappy fans what they want. If WB used a format like TNS&SDS/New Mysteries when they brought the franchise in the 1990s the people who grew up with the WB series would be Shaphne and Scrappy fans instead of Fraphne/Shelma fans or Scrappy haters. Fraphne/Shelma would be forgotten if it were to go this way just saying.

In, the end it's what the market is, and what WB/CN want to do, rather they want to greenlight a shaphne style show, or a traditional gang series, in the end it's their choice, not ours. I myself am super duper excited for Be Cool, i'm ready for a new Scooby show, and i love the look of it. But that's my opinion, we all have our opinion. But right now most of the market, doesn't like Scrappy and likes Fred and Daphne, so that's what WB wants to do. JCB, i appreciate all of the hard work you and everyone else is putting into Be Cool, i am truly excited for it!

If one happened before another could happen again.

JCB, i appreciate all of the hard work you and everyone else is putting into Be Cool, i am truly excited for it! Okay, but there could still be a new Shaphne series in the future. If one happened before another could happen again. I'm curious Sponge, what is it about Shaphne that appeals to you? Is it that you want to see Shaggy and Daphne dating? Or that you want a show with ONLY Shaggy and Daphne together in it, whether they're romantically involved or not? Or is it that you dislike Fred and Velma (and Scooby?) and don't want to see them? Why "Shaphne"? I'm honestly not offended by anything you've said on these boards. I'm just curious what's behind it, from a fan point of view. And, further, do YOU, personally, want Scrappy back? Why? What about Scrappy appeals to you? To me, Scrappy always felt like the perfect example of what the Simpsons were making fun of with their classic "Poochie" episode. New characters added for comic relief because the writers are finding the old characters getting stale usually is a sign of two things (to me, this is only my opinion): 1. the writers are out of ideas, not the show. 2. The original characters weren't built quite right to remain interesting. Thus, we get Scooby Dum, Scooby Dee, Scrappy, and all these other new characters thrown in. It's strange that I've heard no one here upset that Scooby Dum isn't in the series. Isn't he just as a valid a character as Scrappy? Or is the difference that you, personally, didn't grow up with Scooby Dum, so he's not to YOU? Again, we went back to the original 1969, classic Scooby Doo Where Are You? Show, the series that started it all, and opened up the hood and looked at the engine to retool it. To correct what I saw as the original problems with the show that might have been giving the future writers the problems that caused them to grow bored with the main five characters. I went into the DNA of the show and the characters and made them all fully dimensional, well rounded characters with flaws and dreams and issues and put them back in the van and sent them on their way. We didn't remove anything from their personalities, we only added and enhanced. Now, that doesn't mean that the series after the original were BAD. Not at all. It also doesn't mean the new characters introduced after the original can't or won't make appearances in Be Cool. They very well may. We just felt, if we're trying to make a comedic, character driven series, it would be most interesting to hit the reset button and start from the original premise, Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby driving around in the Mystery Machine solving mysteries - which no new audience has grown up with for 40 years. I'm sorry that the original, classic Scooby Doo idea doesn't appeal to you and others. You may be right that it fails. But I think its worth honoring it and giving it a chance with a new audience. It is what began these last 45 years of Scooby Doo and everything after it has been variations on its themes, so there MUST be something incredibly valuable at it's core that it's lived so long, evolving and mutating. Be Cool is a new, modern comedic remake of the original, classic series.

I do like Scooby. The reason why I like Shaphne is because when HB used the paring in the 80s they continued on with it and developed a cool relationship between the characters that I find interesting. When WB uses Fraphne they seem to repeat the format and they think they need to pair the good looking male with the good looking female which gets old when shows keep using that format. The reason why I like Scrappy is they gave him more character in his later shows. The only major Scooby character I don't like is Fred because in the newer shows he seems to get in the way of the plot and I kind of feel WB made him into a bully. What fans mean by Shaphne is the characters interact with each other more as close friends but nothing too romantic. Fans have also speculated Shaggy and Daphne have more in common together then comparing the two with Velma or Fred.

Fans have also speculated Shaggy and Daphne have more in common together then comparing the two with Velma or Fred. Interesting. Thank you for your thoughtful response. My main focus has been to turn the main characters into three-dimensional, real humans who are best friends and interact as a group of friends really DO interact. They have disagreements, tease each other, argue, support each other, care and love for each other - all while doing dangerous and adventurous things. Fred is the leader of the gang and we've given him control issues, but it's because he takes his leadership responsibilities seriously. His choices could wind up getting someone hurt. Also, he's now dealing with very strong personalities, which are hard to control and lead. It's a comedy and you need to create strong comedic points of view for each character. Fred is trying to keep things in control, when the other characters are being funny, it usually means things are getting out of control, therefore Fred starts being funny in his quest to regain control (there's a lot of "math" in comedy writing). It's funny, but from what you're saying, it actually sounds like we're doing exactly what you would like with the characters.
