I'm pleasantly surprised to see there is such heart going into the development into the new series. As in other spots of the forum, the business side of my mind can see the writing on the wall of more than likely why it was time for a wackier style for the next series. But I'm just thrilled to see it as a CHANCE to go in a different direction. I personally also enjoy to see a creative person mention historical perspective, because Scooby's history has always been a changing model. I gave Get a Clue and Mystery Incorporated shots even though I soured on them, i have no qualms about giving Be Cool it's equal shot. If anything reading through this hasn't really nudged me one way or the other in the end, as while I'm pleased about some elements, I admit my humor and story telling style don't seem to mesh as well with what's been described, but like that's ever stopped me from trying something new. Good luck on this incarnation and who knows my opinion might change. My only real question to add her is one i can't even imagine if you would know, as I'm sure each different part of the franchise is being handled separately, but do you have any knowledge if the live action scooby reboot replaced the animated theatrical scooby or if the two are separate projects? Since you are the closest link we have to the company, you might know or know someone that could give an answer to that, since so far i can't seem to find anything conclusive either way. Or if not know which facebook/twitter tree is the best to go sniffing around for that answer? My sense is that the style, tone and characters will be a bit of a shock at first. I understand that people tend to resist change (I do myself), so I'm anticipating a strong "WTF?" reaction at first - just the jolt of the new. I also firmly believe that once everyone watches a few episodes and really starts to get to know and understand what we're doing with these characters, they will fall in love with them - and this version of Scooby. I sincerely hope the fans stick with it and get through the initial sense of vertigo. I'm sorry, I don't know what's going on with the live-action movie, although, interestingly enough, I was actually going to be writing it a couple years ago, but the combination of having a baby and health issues made it impossible for me to take on the job at the time. Would have been fun, though. I had just written a "Phineas" feature movie (that they decided not to make after deciding to end the series), and the guy who was in charge of the Scooby movie was a huge "Phineas" fan, so I got the call. It's just a strange coincidence that I ended up writing the new Scooby series a year later through a completely different connection. Either way, I look forward to your thoughts on the show.

Well... I said what I said and the words are there, apparently read incorrectly. I just deleted a nice long response because it will just incite more. But yeah, it changes, and sometimes it doesn't remain the same, and that's the kick. And, if this is only on Boomerang, well, Comcast doesn't have Boomerang, so, in the US, this is going to suck. I haven't seen it air yet, and CN treated SDMI like trash. Is it to be on CN or BR in the US? I apologize if I misread or misunderstood your words, Cap. My response was less about your specific comments than it was to a particular concept that keeps popping up about why "change" Scooby. I was trying to finally address the issue once and for all - Scooby IS change. It's funny, because at Warner Brothers everybody has a different idea about what elements need to be in a Scooby Doo show to define it AS a Scooby Doo show. Literally nobody agrees. Everybody also has a different idea about what the audience NEEDS or WANTS or EXPECTS to see, which makes it tricky. So, basically, I've been in the trenches at Warners fighting these battles and sorting out the company's perception of the "property" and how to incorporate certain elements in a brand new series, which takes a different approach and is attempting to redefine what you can do with Scooby Doo. I guess it all came out in a rant, so I'm sorry if it seemed directed at you. Cheers.

Correct, it will be a corporate/commercial thing. It will not only depend on the progress in writing/animating but all the other stuff going on as well. There is a lot of Scooby Doo going on this year, we have the Lego sets, the Lego game, the KISS move, probably another movie that I can't remember and amidst all of this you want to land your new TV series. There are also traditional holidays/school breaks to be factored as well as other new shows to be factored in to any release plan. I suspect there is a date penciled in for quite some time, there will have to have been for planning purposes.

Yes, I have nothing to do with the scheduling, but I will say this: I just finished writing the last episode of season one and will begin writing season two next week. Try to wrap your minds around that - I can't.

My pleasure, but please understand that nothing is official. Nothing I say is official. In television, you can't really count on anything until you actually see it on your TV screen.

Because I love them, I think they would fit with the plot/direction of Be Cool and I think it would "be cool" (see what I did here haha ) to have them again since they're like a part of each series... I and I think many fans would be happy to have them again And like always, thanks for taking the time to comment with us (fans) and work so hard on BC... I really appreciate it

I know this series is happening but I just don't see Be Cool making it to a second season. Well a bright, cheery and happy good morning to you too. Think about what you've just said in response to jcb, a guy putting his heart, soul and possibly other major internal organs into this. What you've said above is this I hope your work fails, and fails so badly that it doesn't make it to the second series. We get it, seriously, we get it, you don't like the series. And that's fine, nobody is asking you to like it but frankly I'm getting sick and tired of the whole 'it's not Shaphne and it's got Fred and Velma in it so I hope if fails' routine. Here's a thought for you, if this does fail WB is not likely to run out and make a pile of 13 Ghosts follow up episodes and CN is even less likely to commission them. They sunk a pile of money into developing SD:MI and another pile into Be Cool, I don't think they'd sink any more money into the franchise for TV for a long if this one doesn't make it. Rant over, normal programming is now resumed.
