As fans, I guess it is our duty to watch the shows, even if they are bad.

My main reason for watching the bad shows is to add the info to my website. It's not really because I want to watch them. But the people at WB know fans will watch the shows no matter what.

Their meddling kids all the guys i know most any way are as thin as a board but eat like guys they say they'll blow up around 30 so I guess Shaggy's the same way so as long as their "Meddling Kids" and younger than thirty hopfully Shaggy will never be fat.
As for Scooby...I don't know why he isn't huge maybe it's because he's always running from shadows and creeps.

I heard that Casey Kasem didn't come back for Scooby Doo On Zombie Island because they refused to make Shaggy a Vegetarian in it.

Yeah, I can't seem to confirm this with anyone who can tell me for sure that it is true. I even asked Joe Ruby and Ken Spears. They said they didn't know anything about it. I wanted to ask Scott Innes, but I didn't know if it would be appropriate to ask him.

What Wikipedia says about it is what I always thought was true. I never knew for sure though.
It's obvious that Shaggy is not a vegetarian. We see him eating many different types of meat in many different series. I'm going to guess that he went through a stage of being a vegetarian for a short period of time, or that he has experimented with it before. But, as far as mainstream, I would say definitely not.
This is from the Scooby Doo Behind the Scenes clip about Shaggy: Fred: "Some people may think Shaggy's skinny because Scooby's always stealing his food. That's not it. It's because he's a vegetarian." A picture is shown of Shaggy eating a sandwich, and it says the sandwich has "NO MEAT".
Mattew Lillard on reddit.com: He was asked: "Did you know that Shaggy's real name was Norville Rogers before you decided to play Shaggy?" He said: "I didn't. I do now. did you know Shaggy was originally a Vegitarian ?"
In something else, talking about "Scooby Doo", the live-action movie, Matthew said: "At one point somebody said, 'Let's give Shaggy a cheeseburger.' And I said 'No, no, no. Shaggy's a veggie head.'."
And in "Scooby-Doo" (live-action), this is what Mary Jane says about Scooby Snacks: "They're 100% vegetarian, and I love them."

I'm confused - I could swear he's eaten plenty of hamburgers and whenever they show him and Scooby making hero sandwiches, he piles the meat up?

Although Kasem was still a vegetarian, he had no issue with Shaggy's character eating meat up until "Scooby Doo on Zombie Island." Kasem demanded that Shaggy's character be a vegetarian starting in 1998 (from what I heard it started with an argument about Shaggy eating a burger on a McDonalds commercial, but I haven't found anything to confirm that), but when his demands weren't met, Scott Innes temporarily replaced Casey Kasem as Shaggy in the 1998-2001 movies. Beginning in 2002, Kasem was asked to come back as Shaggy. He accepted, but starting with "What's New Scooby-Doo," Shaggy was made a vegetarian to meet Kasem's demands.
So, long story short, from all the series up until What's New Scooby-Doo, Shaggy ate meat, but beginning with What's New, Shaggy was a vegetarian. However, after What's New Kasem retired as the role of Shaggy and that role was handed over to Matthew Lillard, who turned Shaggy's character into a meat-eater again.
Does that help clarify things?

It does - so sad that Kasem stepped down after WN - would've been nice to have 1 more series with him.

Man that kinda bums me out about Casey. I mean stand firm in what you believe but that just feels like he was trying to force his diet views on everyone else. Then again, I guess he kind of did own Shaggy in a way.

If Casey Casem was voicing, Shaggy didn't eat meat. He was a vegetarian and advocated against other things such as unhealthy breakfast cereal.
Scooby always stole Shaggy's food before he could eat it anyway. Lol
