Another amazing post, Jeepers! This film is just Scooby at his finest. It deeply saddens me that WB abandoned this style and took the series in an...undesirable direction after the well-done retro films. I'd love to see another movie in this style with the same cast. The writing, art, and voices were amazing. It's something they have failed to capture ever since. Watching this film also makes me wish we hadn't lost Bergman (RIP), Ward, and Innes. They are far superior to the current cast. At the very least with these voices, I wouldn't ind the current direction as much because I LOVE BJ Ward. Agreed! If Innes, Ward and Bergman (RIP) were still part of the crew I'd have to take a step back and watch whatever they put out anyway simply because they were so awesome at voicing these characters. I'd like to think, though, that if Bergman had lived, she'd still be doing Daphne. (Though with how WB handles thing - Lillard as Shaggy while Scott Innes's vocal perfection is right there despite location differences - who knows.) I think so too. She was an excellent actress and really brought the character to life. I know I'd definitely keep watching just to listen to BJ Ward's lovely voice! Her Velma was so...perfect! But, that might be nostalgia talking, I grew up with her voice on Zombie Island. <3

I think Mindy Cohn's voice for Velma is a bit too high-pitched.

I like this on a lot too, though I've seen it enough to watch it in another language and not miss a beat. I still don't get why the Fisherman (the one with the pig) wasn't sacraficed or whatever long before Lena had to lure the gang there. It's baffled me since I noticed it. Maybe they were scared of Mojo. Or the water. Cats don't like water and Snakebite was always out fishing. I think he lived on that boat. Probably hard to find him.

This movie had some expensive traditional Japanese guys working on it. Stuff like arms getting severed (one of the zombies) is normal for a movie like Princess Mononokie.

While the special and characters were great, the fact they didn't solve the mystery was rather annoying. Velma and Fred should've been able to figure things out. Scooby and Shaggy not being included for the reveal was strange too. I remember watching this when I was like six, alone in the dark and being terrified

Unlike most top five lists, this one isn't on mine. It's still really good, I like the classic solving mysteries style better.

It has finally arrived. Whyboy begins its look at the Mook Animated Scooby-Doo movies. Do they hold up after all this time? Well let's begin with the darkest out of the four and find out. ENJOY

I love this movie, probably my favorite ever. The opening of all the modern unmaskings is awesome. I love the idea that they all have done their own things and reunite. This is one of my favorite versions of the gang as they are all older. This one is really scary and the zombies being good was a crazy twist with the cat creatures

Was able to catch Boomerang playing this today and forgot how great this is. I personally love the design of this film era for them and BJ Ward voicing Velma. Not to mention the revamp of the classic theme in the intro!

Love this film! It's the 2nd best one in the whole franchise imo after Cyber Chase! The whole concept and the zombies make it superb and the hint of jealously between Daphne and Fred, is a theme I like in this film. It's just superb! Really unusual to see Zombies being the good guys! I'm worried about this return to Zombie Island thing though! I feel like WB will ruin it.

Still had a Barnes & Noble gift card leftover since my birthday and decided to finally go and spend it this past weekend. They had all 4 of the Mook Animation DTV Scooby films on DVD, and I just couldn't pass them up! The last time I'd seen any of these was on VHS (Alien Invaders being one of, if not the last film, I ever watched before retiring the VHS player), so, I was tepidly excited to watch them all again. Zombie Island had always been one of my favorites, and watching it again, I've got to say it exceeded my expectations! While it's a bit startling to hear the one-off Billy West Shaggy performance, I actually really grew to like his take on the character as the film went on. I was always a Kasem and Innes fan, but now I'd rank West right up there too! There's so much more I could say, but I'll refrain from mostly echoing Jeepers' thoughts on the previous page. Something about Zombie Island's visual stylings has always been my favorite Scooby presentation (aside from the SDWAY originals, that is). I can't put my finger on it, but, in comparison to even Witch's Ghost, Alien Invaders, and especially Cyber Chase, Zombie just has the 'warmest' look. IDK, I'm assuming it has something to do with the animators had more production time, or this was the only film animated on cells or something, but, I really like the vibrant colors and excellent use of shadows and highlights - especially on the characters. They really seem to shine - similarly to the ILM-enhanced animation on Who Framed Roger Rabbit - the colors are so deep and rich, and the characters just seem to pop off of the screen - certainly an upgrade to how inherently flat a lot of animation (HB animation in particular) can look. Had the series kept this cast (unfortunately impossible after the passing of Bergman, RIP) and visual style, I'd strive to own every single DTV on DVD and/or Blu-ray. But, as is, I'm glad we at least got these 4 great films. Nice that they actually share a fairly direct continuity unlike the rest of Scooby-Doo.

Now THIS is more like it! Honestly one of the best animated movies ever period and my personal second favorite Scooby movie. I don't think I even have to explain why this movie is so phenomenal it's pretty self evident. This is the proof that Scooby doesn't have to be a mystery with an unmasking. I would say more people than not have this ranked number 1 out of all of the movies and that is INSANE. So, so great

The best piece of Scooby-Doo Media ever. This movie is dark as heck and honestly has such an imposing storyline for a kids cartoon. Scared my half to death when I was younger and still give me the chills to this day, at certain times. It's the GOAT!
