Arabian Nights was an old story/movie and I think they were just trying to be creative with it and thought that by putting Scooby and Shaggy with a classic tale like Arabian Nights would make some money, (predominately anyway!)

Yeah, I didn't like it so much because Scooby and Shaggy weren't in it.

I think I would have liked it better had it not been considered a Scooby-Doo Movie. Maybe if it had a different title and Shaggy and Scooby were just characters in it, then it would have worked better for me.

I'm actually watching this for the first time in years, (first time on dvd, only had it on vhs before) and one the first things that stands out to me, everyone is so much more off model than i remember XD
This is such an odd trinket, an obvious parody of 1001 Arabian Nights but of course using two stories not originally in said story collection (Aladdin and Sinbad) But even still this jumps out to me as one of the weaker outings but not so much enough for me to hate (i reserve that for the much more current Scooby tv shows) since behind the off model antics and rigid problems in the putting together of this movie, there's something fun still coming through seeing Scooby and Shaggy in a 1001 Arabian Nights drama, Yogi Bear playing the genie of Aladdin and Magilla playing Sinbad.
However in a way i'm not that upset this was a closing chapter, since when it comes to lacking things, this one takes the cake.

As I said, I never really liked this. Hanna-Barbera was pretty much ripping off Disney and "Animaniacs" with this one (it even pretty much had the "Animaniacs" music as well!) and the animation was SO flat and wonky. It didn't even feel like Hanna-Barbera made this! This was also pretty much the last Scooby-Doo -related cartoon made by Hanna-Barbera as well, along with the final appearances of Magilla Gorilla and Yogi Bear from the studio. Maybe if they just did the "Aliyah-Din" story as a stand-alone half-hour special it wouldn't be as bad. But otherwise, this was pretty much H-B's equivalent to "Titanic: the Animated Musical" (with that said, I'd love to see the Nostalgia Critic review this, actually!)
I also did an excellent YouTube Poop of this movie, "The Worst Arabian Nights Adaptation Ever!"

The animation really sucked in this one, and the movie overall wasn't good, even though I admit I have it on DVD... It's a pity, since the DVD and VHS covers make you think the movie is fantastic. At least I thought that.

It just feels like a last minute effort in some ways. It's marketing clearly relied on the previous characters yet at the same time doesn't really use them that much as themselves....i don't know while i admit there's a small charm in hey it's Scooby and Shaggy playing 1001 Arabian Nights, it doesn't deliver as my mind would set it up for.
Hands down IMO one of the few HB things i would describe as a "disappointment"
