I agree with Moonscar. This was always the worst of the Mook era films to me, but I have come to absolutely adore this movie the more and more I watch it. Probably moved ahead of Cyber Chase for me in the past few months since I last posted about this, but this has moved up there with Camp Scare, Zombie Island, Witch's Ghost, and I'll include Cyber Chase as well for being in the conversation for my favorite animated films of all time. Oddly enough, Cyber Chase was my favorite of the 4 as a kid and it's probably the weakest for me now. I still love it though, and honestly Alien Invaders is very close to Witch's Ghost for my third favorite Scooby movie ever so it's nothing against Cyber Chase

It used to be my least favorite of the films, but now Cyber Chsae is haha.

I'd say that Cyber Chase is more of a kid film than the rest of the four, even though Scooby Doo, and this era especially, can be and are enjoyed by kids and adults alike. However, there's no doubting that the first 3, especially Zombie Island and Witch's Ghost are more mature films than Cyber Chase really is, which would explain why Cyber Chase might not be quite as phenomenal to an adult viewer as the first 3

The Deep South, Salem (Oakhaven) and Roswell all make for incredible locations for feature length mysteries, as there's so much history & folklore to explore. Cyber Chase went a completely different direction but was still pretty enjoyable for its creativity.

They are all truly spectacular and historical settings. Of course, Cyber Chase goes a different direction with having a bunch of different fictional settings for short intervals while going from level to level

Very interesting thoughts.
I loved this movie as a kid and I still enjoy it today. I feel it's a bit better than Witch's Ghost, but not as spooky or interesting as Zombie Island. I loved the gliders the aliens zoomed around on, as they matched a toy I'd purchased years before. Full disclaimer: I generally enjoy sci-fi more than fantasy, so that probably is skewing things, too.
Lester was written very well and can appeal to a wide-range audience with his paintings and curious way of going about life. He's a strange old man, but you can't help but enjoy following his antics-- you want to believe. My grandmother was actually a painter, and while not eccentric about alien sightings, she had a van similar to Lester's vehicle with all her art supplies and such. I feel that the writers really spent some time developing his character.
The plot itself was interesting enough, with a tangled web of conspiracies for the gang to unravel. Fake government agents? Aliens? Oil? You have it all.
As a young adult, I can't ignore the subtle (but heavy!) themes such as exploring gender expression (Buck and the flower) and lost love due to people changing, which for a '90s cartoon were extremely heavy. These themes went right over my head as a child, and they seem to speak more to teens and older. I question how relevant bringing up these issues in a cartoon were to the actual viewing audience and franchise as a whole. That said, years back I watched the end sequence on repeat when I was really struggling after losing someone important to me. Some people criticize Fred for just being like, "oh, you'll get over it" but frankly, it fits his character well and sometimes that's what you need to hear. I'm sure Velma was there for Shaggy and Scooby as they got over their first big crushes. She even had Scooby Snacks ready.
Overall, this is probably my second favorite Mook film and one certainly worth revisiting once in a while. The summer setting is somewhat unique and makes the summer a great season to pair with watching the film.

It's probably my favorite out of the Zombie Island quartet! I love the setting, the monsters, the gang's outfits, and the new characters. And the joke about probing was way too funny.

Update: I am still returning to this movie more than any other. Now my second favorite Scooby movie period behind Zombie Island. The very ending with Shaggy and Scooby moving on and fighting over a Scooby Snack is a feel good moment
Did anyone else think that Steve and Laura were possibly romantically involved? They obviously cared way more about each other than the other culprits in the final scenes

I kinda agree. Cyber Chase feels different from the other three anyway… it does feel like it is closing something out, and it is a beautiful moment
