I had a conversation with Michael Borkowski, the artist for SDMI and Spooky Games. He said that Spooky Games he thought was going to be a direct to DVD movie, but it turned out to be an episode. It is more of a special than part of a series, and he hasn't heard anything about it becoming a series or doing more episodes like it. Thanks for the info. Yes, it is a truly special episode. I though "Haunted Holidays" was going to be like it though.

He doesn't know anything about the episode that is going to be on the Spooky Tales: Holiday DVD, that's what he said on twitter. So I'm not sure what is up with that episode, if it is real or not.

Oh, I'm sure it's real. I would be shocked if it ended up not being real anyway.

On the whole it isn't too bad, not the best Scooby Doo episode I've ever seen but no where near the worst. Being a Londoner there are a few things that irk (is it that hard for the writers to check stuff on Wikipedia?), it's the Metropolitan Police not the 'London Police' (unless you are in the very centre of the city a.k.a 'the square mile' when it is 'the City of London police') and those style police cars haven't been on the road for over 20 years. They tend to look like this now (also available in red): upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/24/Metropolitan_Police_car01.jpg/320px-Metropolitan_Police_car01.jpg [/img] I don't recall hearing any cockney accents so that's a plus (another clue to tell you this wasn't a Disney production).

Not everything has to be the exact same as it is in the real world.

Nope, it's only a cartoon. Like LaeScoobyFan said not everything has to be the same.

It's my understanding that Michael moved away from scooby projects after spooky games and onto the new Beware the Batman show debuting next year, so he isn't up on what is going on with Scoob currently. I had asked him also if he heard any internal rumblings about a possible bluray release for mystery inc, and he replied that no one tells him anything implying that he is out of the loop.

Not everything has to be the exact same as it is in the real world. True but it is set where I live and is contemporaneous with the Olympics so these things/errors are jarring (like the mock-Tudor village).

Yeah I agree, details like that shouldn't be hard to get right. I mean, if I were creating something set in a specific location I'd try to do justice to those who live there. Especially in this day and age when info is so readily available. I guess Scooby always has generalized this sort of thing and mixed eras in the past though. Well, not just Scooby but HB in general.
The Disney comment was hilarious BTW.

It did occur to me that a car with 'Metropolitan Police' on may not be as obvious to others as it is to people on my side of the pond. One fact that they did miss out on, which would have been appreciated by Shaggy and Scooby, is that the response cars like this are referred to as a 'Jam Sandwich'.

I didn't realize Michael wasn't working on Scooby anymore. He made a comment that they hadn't asked him to do anything after Spooky Games, so I just assumed that they didn't have anything new for him to do.

This special was really good. I think that was the perfect start for a new series of Scooby-Doo specials. And Haunted Holidays, Spooky Scarecrow and Mecha Mutt Menace did reach my expectations. I hope Ghaslty Goals will too. It's actually like watching a mini DTV.
