I can understand people not really digging Blue Falcon, but since Blue Falcon (and a great many other superheroes) really are just different takes on the Batman concept/formula I thought it was interesting to do to Blue Falcon what happened to a number of superheroes in the 1980s. They were made darker and grittier. The fact is, today, that stuff comes off as kind of silly. Nowadays it feels like they were trying too hard and that's where this parody comes in. It's hilarious, but I think it really depends on how flexible you think they should be with the characters. It's honestly not THAT drastic (given he IS a superhero character), but that's not to say some people didn't feel the same way about Batman being so dark when the Dark Knight Returns was being published.

I wonder if it's a matter of the folks who disliked the Blue Falcon portrayal in this episode are not a direct fan of or not familiar with the source material of the parody (as stated numberious times in the thread: Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns).

Could be. Some other people prefer the newer because they like the more "hardcore" take on him.

Could be. Some other people prefer the newer because they like the more "hardcore" take on him. Which is kind of hilarious, because that's part of what's being parodied. That and the recent trend (again as a result of Batman, though in this case the Chris Nolan Batman films) to emulate the darker/more "realistic" tone of the Batman films. Regardless of whether its right for the character. (Which it obviously isn't for Blue Falcon). I guess some people unfamiliar with that (which is understandable) aren't seeing the joke and just feel like somebody is messing with a classic cartoon character.

Its been a while since I've posted but I just saw this episode and had to say how much I loved it. I think this is the best episode yet, not only did it feel like a blast from the past with this crossover but Shaggy was freakin awesome in this, he didn't take any crap from any one not even Fred who he normally lets drive. Plus it showed how much he cared for Scooby and how much of a good heart he has, telling him to let the guy go cuz its like how they love there dogs? Come on, hope we see more of this Shaggy down the road, give this episode ++++ 10 stars.

Blue Falcon's voice didn't sound right to me. It didn't to me either. I like his voice in Mask of the Blue Falcon better.

Hmmm, We've had more Mechanical Mutts than Phantom's at this point i think. If Maniacal Mecha Mutt were my choice to make... from the concept... if it were a Blue Falcon continuation... I'd have it be KARR. ... i'll let you figure that out.

Great to hear Frank's voice being used in this crossover for both of his fan favorite characters. Awesome episode.

Dynomutt and the Blue Falcon's guest appearance was awesome! And I liked the new voice of BF, he sounded a lot like Batman!

This episode aired in Greece about an hour ago. We're halfway through the season!

This was a great crossover episode. I assume this was around the time the Blue Falcon ComicCon movie came out? I agree with Doo's 2012 sentiment in that this was probably too violent for the year it came out, though I'm pretty desensitized now and thoroughly enjoyed this in the current year. Certainly some Batman vibes throughout the episode, yes.

I think this episode was a necessary tension relief after Wrath of Krampus, and we got a really cool crossover with it. I think it works for me better looking at it as a Batman parody rather than a Dynomutt parody, but what I have really come to appreciate is that last summer is when I binge watched and adored the original Jonny Quest series, and going back and seeing Dr Zin was wonderful as such a fan of that series
