It's here on Watch Cartoons! ;D I'll let you those of you who are eager to watch it (unlike SOME posters here ), but some quasi-spoilers: "No, not really!" Nothing to do with the Mr. E storyline. A "serious" distraction episode, though, unlike "Mystery State Finals" and "Nightfright". Sheriff Stone returns! ;D annnnnnnnnnnnd....... IN YOUR FACE, SHAGGY!! Thank you, that is all (for now). ;D

Hmmm...what happened to "Awwww, poor Velma" when Shaggy dumped her for Scooby?. I think this was what I call The Great Equalizer in this now-almost deceased relationship. (There may be a tad of hope for some reason to me way down the line, but both characters are perhaps too young now.) Velma is officially over Shaggy. And you know what? This is what is natural, apparently, in the Scooby universe, to most of our posters: Fred and Daphne together, Scooby and Shaggy together, and Velma all by her lonesome. Okay, then. The final straw may have been when Scooby bumped into both in the rear of the Mystery Machine during Fred's lunatic effort to get to school. At that very moment, it may have occurred to Velma that this just wasn't meant to be. Shaggy, I guess you and Scooby are destined to be together forever--unless someone other than Velma enters the picture, huh? (See Mi-Lee) And this could be the shocker to most of you: I think Shaggy was the one who may have started this relationship in the first place. Look at Mi-Lee. The boy tried to make the moves on her. He then tried to make said moves back to Velma. Both turned out badly for him. Good thing Scooby and food are there for him, huh? I think Velma's growing up, as opposed to Shaggy, who's still taking his first baby steps. It should be interesting if the writers have someone waiting on the side for Velma down the line. As for you, Scooby, you need to develop other interests than Shaggy. You can't get a dog girlfriend? ;D Now before some of you go, in Velma's own words, "Code Brown", please keep in mind that this isn't your daddy or mommy's Scooby (our's who are old enough to remember it first coming out), it's this generation's Scooby, for a more mature audience. This is why I'm going all out to analyze the relationship. SD:MI seems to me to invite this. Good going, Velma. ;D

Let us also not forget Velma's mom plopping that dusty old book between her and Shaggy in a moment of near-intimacy. Velma saw the writing on the wall at that point. And it didn't take Shaggy long to come out of his post-break-up sulk. How it plays out to the final four episodes remains to be seen.
Cachinga got played because the gang wanted Nick to call out loud he could go back to exploring, thus luring the creature out. The ensuing chase led to one of Fred's more effective traps. Sheriff Stone got played as well.

I may not have seen this episode yet(I prefer to wait for the shows to air in the US on Cartoon Network), but I do have something to say on the Shaggy/Velma thing.
I really think that deep down Scooby has no problem with Shaggy dating someone, or Velma dating Shaggy. Of course since the writers are taking a different stance and doing things a little different we're ending up going down this road.
However, back when Shaggy was dating Googie(from Reluctant Werewolf) or when that acrobat from the Hong Kong WNSD episode(I forgot her name) was attracted to Shaggy, Scooby didn't seem to have a problem with it.
Also, in the Where Are You days, Velma and Shaggy seemed to be spending a lot of time with each other, and there were even times where Shaggy showed a bit of affection to her, and vice versa.
I can think of a couple example of that right off the top of my head: in the Backstage Rage, Velma goes right to Shaggy when she's frightened of the pirate and viking(which would later turn out to be puppets but I digress); in that episode she says: "I don't like looking for clues anymore", and even though you couldn't tell it on the show, I think Shaggy was secretly glad that she did so.
And of course you have the Tarzan and Jane thing in the Tiki Scare episod as well. I also think that when Scooby has a girl dog that he's in love with or smitten with(Scooby Dee, Amber, etc.), I think Scooby wouldn't care less if Shaggy was seeing someone, or dating someone, including Velma.
The bottom line is this: Shaggy clearly wants to date, and clearly wants a permenant girlfriend(although some would disagree, but he has had a few in the past), and maybe it's Velma. But Scooby keeps being too clingy and wants to spend as much time as possible with Shaggy, which is not going to work.
Shaggy either has gone, or will go to college(whether its shown on screen or not), so will he take Scooby into his classes with him? I think Scooby might have to stay in his dorm or whatever in this case, plus I don't think any college would want to have a dog in a class, even one like Scooby Doo.
Even if we were back in the 80s, and Daphne and Shaggy were dating, Scooby would and has to realize that Shaggy has a life, and Scooby(sadly) won't be around forever. So, if he was truly Shaggy's friend, I think he would support whatever Shaggy's doing.
Frankly I agree with some people out there, Scooby needs a girlfiend; both to get himself another hobby besides Shaggy, and also to see what makes Shaggy and Velma tick, and maybe if he knows and sees what happens with them, maybe Scooby can use those tricks to get himself a girl dog and have a girlfriend while Shaggy and Velma are dating.
I also think if Scooby gets a girlfriend, that a double date between Scooby and his girlfriend and Shaggy and Velma might work very well. That way, Scooby can see that Shaggy and Velma are doing fine with each other, and that he has nothing to worry about.

Shaggy is my favorite character(besides Scooby-Doo of course). So yeah I feel bad for him. The thing is, Velma came on veryy strong when they first started dating. She was also trying to change Shaggy. Do you blame the guy for picking his bestfriend over her? Honestly, I think they`re a cute couple and I hate the idea of others coming into the gang I think, if the gang are going to date it should be with each other. I don`t know maybe I`m weird. lol

Nickle, thank you for the very insightful analysis. You hit it right on the head. UltimateScoobyFan, I don't disagree one bit about Velma being controlling, which I believe we can agree had an effect on Shaggy choosing Scooby, but, and I'm not justifying Velma's behavior, mind you, but Velma has some issues. (Warning: Some spoilers below) She indirectly spoke while in the trap to Shaggy and Scooby in "Escape From Mystery Mansion" about being insecure, responding to Danny Darrow, who thought she was Pericles, which he was describing. Velma, however, figured it was about her, and asked the two, who said nothing (implying something WAS there). Silence can be deafening. Velma's method of dress, with the orange sweater. In "The Siren's Song", Amy the mermaid pointed out that Velma wore the turtleneck to hide a neck prattle. In "The Legend of Alice May", she wore her sweater to the prom with a skirt, and didn't want to expose her arms. How about in "Secret Serum", where she wore her bikini UNDER her regular clothing while beside the pool? Yep, issues--but not unlike the others, when you think about it, and that bothers me. Why does it seem that Velma's getting the vast majority of criticism, while the others either get off lightly, or are criticized weakly? Velma's getting a bad rap. As I previously pointed out, her method of controlling helped Shaggy to choose her over Scooby, but I ask you (and others here, for that matter) to consider this: Why'd he attempt to get back with her? Surely he'd know Scooby's jealousy and clingy nature could flare up again, and they'd all be right back in the same spot. My point is there's something about Velma that Shaggy liked very much. As Nickle somewhat says, Scooby's going to have to his problems addressed if Shaggy's going to have any sort of relationship in the future. Truth be told, it's rather, um, unhealthy for Scooby to be this way. P.S.: Shaggy and Daphne were DATING once, Nickle?

Thank you Sagg, i'm glad you and others appreciated my analysis I guess it's my fandom of sports shining through because most sports analysts I listen to get really deep into their respective sports, kind of like how I got into the Scooby/Shaggy/Velma triangle. And as for the Shaggy/Daphne dating, I kinda sorta didn't think that much when I was typing. In the 1983-1985 seasons with Scrappy, other then the times with Fred and Velma guest starring, Shaggy and Daphne were the only two human members of Mystery Inc. solving mysteries. And to that point, there were plenty of times when watching those episodes(and I know most people on this board think the same way) that the fans assumed Shaggy and Daphne were boyfriend and girlfriend, i.e. dating. Heck, during the 13 Ghosts series they lived in the same house together, or at least that's what it looked like to me. So, when you put all of that together, it definitely seems like at one point Shaggy and Daphne were dating. One last thing though: come on, be honest: considering the relationship troubles Daphne and Shaggy have both had in this series, and Daphne and Shaggy's relationship issues in the past(him not keeping a girlfriend, and her waiting for Fred to tell her he loves her), aren't you rooting for or thinking that there's a possibility that Shaggy and Daphne will be a couple someday? While I support the Fraphne and Shelma pairings, I'm starting to turn around on the Shaphne(partly because of Kim Possible and the whole Kim/Ron pairing and Aladdin because of him and Princess Jasmine). I guess in a way, my thoughts on Shaggy/Daphne are influenced A LOT by Disney; so why can't the two of them be boyfriend and girlfriend? Especially since that type of relationship works so well in other cartoons, i.e. Disney.

For the record, Scooby Dee was Scooby's cousin (from The Chiller Diller Movie Thriller episode). This isn't to say Scooby hasn't discovered the opposite sex in dogs--he flirted with a poodle in Decoy For A Dognapper, a 1977 episode has a female dog using her charms to melt Scooby out of a block of ice, and a 1982 episode has Scooby vying for the hand of a girl dog against a conceited bulldog. And don't forget Amber from Scooby Doo and the Alien Invaders. Maybe sometime in season 2 we'll see a romantic interest for Scooby.

I'll look at Shaggy and Daphne being together as being a hoot. Eh, anything can happen, though. We have four more episodes, now. There doesn't seem to be too much time to discover Brad Chiles and Judy Reeves, so perhaps these episodes will do just that. Also, do any of you think this is the "second" season, or an extension of the "first" season?

It's an extension of the first. It was already disclosed that this story arc would encompass a 26-episode season. It was just delayed by the supposed contract dispute between Cartoon Network and the producers.

Okay, thanks. I just wish I knew the specifics of that contract to keep SD:Mi from running the new episodes for six months...

Yeah, an okay but unspectacular episode. But the next four leading to the season finale should be doozies.
