The most surprising thing though was the ending. What does the lady DJ (does she have a name yet?) know about all this? The DJ's name is Angel Dynamite.

I think Fred reacted in the episode because a member of the gang was missing, and not so much because it was Daphne. I think he would have reacted the same way no matter who it was. But he was quite surprised when Daphne made a comment at the end about him liking her more than a friend. I think it may be the start of something, and him being freaked out about her being gone could have just been a good way to transition into it.

in terms of the mystery of crystal cove someone from youtube had a really interesting theory as to what the newspaper article means: 'The kids in the paper obviously represent the gang - the boy in the background with the bird on his shoulder (Shaggy and Scooby), the young pretty woman (Daphne) and the other young jock-looking guy (Fred), but the real question is... Does the missing segment have the one who represents Velma? And if so, why is that part ripped off? Could it be that see would look identical to Velma? Does the missing segment have the one who represents Velma? And if so, why is that part ripped off? Could it be that see would look identical to Velma? ' That thought occurred to me too, though I never thought about the missing segment being another person. That's a good idea though. I'm trying to remember, in the first chapter when Velma's conducting the museum tour, is it ever specified that it was actually the Mystery Inc gang themselves that solved the mysteries of the Space Kook, Miner 49er, etc.? Or just that they turned out to be regular criminals? Like are the exhibits from recent history and examples of mysteries the gang allude to having solved in the jail cell scene, or could they be mysteries that were solved in the past and maybe inspired them to continue the work? By an earlier gang, maybe the ones in the news article? If in this version of the show it was actually the people in the news article that solved the original mysteries, then that could've happened back in 1969-70 just like the original show. Fred's dad probably would've been a kid himself, and maybe Angel too. I have a hard time judging how old she's supposed to be, but with all the 'old school' equipment at her radio station she seems to be from the 70's. I don't know, but it might make an interesting tie in to the original show. In an alternate sort of way. But if something happened to this 'original gang' because of their mystery solving activities, then that might be why Fred's dad keeps trying to steer him in another direction. And the other parents, though really they don't seem to be trying that hard. Well, will just have to keep watching I guess. Mark

Mark I don't remember, but in the second episode Fred is naming off villians that "they" captured in the past.

i think Mystery inc. (or scooby gang) solved these cases because like Spider Scooby said, how fred was saying different villans they unmasked in the past he mentioned the ghost of (how dont know how to write it) Vasques(?) Castle which was unmasked before all the other villians

Cool episode, and also the one that got most people wondering what's with this 'group of kids' in that picture and the locket...
