I noticed, I thought that was odd as well.

Daphne has a hard time with Fred's 'obsession' to traps, and poor Velma... Shaggy can't hear her over the 'voice' of his own stomach and his friendship with Scooby. Speaking of Scooby, poor him, he had a hard night... Freaking gator people popping around. The hotel owner and her son, looked a lot like gator whacks on their own... Creepy!!! And I must agree Shaggy's mother has an odd way to paint...

This has to be one of the best Season 1 episodes. Even though the supsects were more than obvious, it was really creepy in terms of villains and settings, and of course, the "The dog dies!" message. Who would have thought it would pay right off 39 episodes later, LOL!

Some people thought this was pretty bare, and had a problem with the suspects being so obvious. I on other hand, thought it was still a pretty decent episode.

THE DROWSY GATOR INN
DINING, TELEVISION, POOLI'm not sure that's it exactly, but I thought that was such a creepy touch. Mark SPOILERS IN THIS POST Out of pure curiosity, I put the remaining letters out in order. I hoped that there would be double double meaning, but I don't think there is, unless the letters are rearranged. I have this odd feeling about it...ROWSY ATOR INN NING, TELVIION, POOL

There are several of the same letters that might've been highlighted in the episode instead. I just worked from memory at the time, so you could still be on to something. Mark

This one was really creepy and Gatorsburg kind of reminded me of Miner 49er's town. The hotel was creepy and fun. The hotel staff were annoying and weird. I also loved the appearance of Mr. E.

For some strange reason this episode, to me, was the funniest of the series. Like it didn't creep me out as much as it made me laugh more than it should've.
One of the most underrated aspects about this franchise is the names the gang gives the monsters and how they say them. The way Fred/Daphne says "gator people!" and the other similar-sounding phrases had me rolling when this first aired. (It's not just this ep/series - the "Fishman!" scene in Camp Scare also comes to mind.)
And I know the scene where Fred/Daphne/Scooby face off the gators in the room did have a creepy tone, but at the very start when Scooby jumped on Fred and stayed down as the gators burst in, I'm sorry but I started cracking up. Then just as I'm remembering this is supposed to be scary, they put that little Fraphne moment in there, and when Fred cuts it short by dropping Daphne on the bed...it's a wrap and I start laughing again.
Oh, and Scooby driving. That was funny too. There was just a lot of comedy gold in this that I honestly think wasn't intentional.

Loved this episode. I think it captured the more serious and spooky tone the show was going for better than the first episodes did. The gator people were creepy and well designed. I thought the mystery was too easy to figure out and would've wished they would of added in someone else to make it harder to discover the culprit. The setting was creepy and looked really well. Definitely a good watch.

The three hotel owners being the gator people seemed so obvious that I thought it couldn't be them lol.

Honestly, would've been funny to see the gang surprised to see that the monster were real and then noticed how close the three hotels owners were to the gator people lol.

I've gotta say I never noticed the sign spelling The Dog Dies before but I really love that now that I see it here. I can't imagine the perpetrators were supposed to be a surprise in this one
