Just joking with the title a little. I mentioned in another thread that I should go back and watch some of the old Scrappy episodes before being too critical, since I honestly haven't seen any of them in years except for those 80's TV movies. I'm thinking of checking out a couple episodes from his first season, "Scooby-Doo And Scrappy-Doo", when they were still 30 minutes and featured the whole gang. So for those of you who liked the show, please recommend your favorite 2-3 episodes out of the original 16. And for those who didn't, the 2-3 you would watch if forced to at gunpoint. No spoilers though please. Thanks! Mark

Hmm... I would have to say the best episodes out of the 1979 season were probably The Scarab Lives(with the Blue Scarab), which was one of my favorites because it was an actual person so to speak instead of a ghost or a monster; basically it was an actual "villain" instead of a fake supernatural monster or ghost.
Another of my favorites would have to be I Left My Neck In San Francisco(the Lady Vampire one/the one where Daphne is a suspect); that one was good because it gave me a fan fic idea and it definitely begs the question: what if something happened to Daphne that turned her into a monster or if she was a suspect?
Finally, and one that is definitely underrated is The Ghoul, the Bat and the Ugly; I like that one because not only do you have a Shadow Creature but you also have the gang at a Horror Movie awards and all sorts of people(actors) running around in scary costumes; it's like a million Scooby episodes rolled into one, or an episode making fun of the fact that the bad guys are always in masks/phony ghosts or monsters, although it's more the former then the latter.
Those are probably the best three in my opinion; although I would have to give honorable mention to the episode with the Snake Demon(Shiver and Shake That Demon's A Snake), the one with the Baseball game in Japan(Demon of the Dugout) and the one with the Sea Beast of the Aztecs(Twenty Thousand Screams Under The Sea).
The other ones are pretty much dumb, or derivative of earlier episodes; Enjoy!

Some of the ones I like are: "Scary Sky Skeleton", It was a cool villain, and not an idea they've used a hundred times.
"I Left My Neck in San Francisco" was a good episode also, and the suspect wasn't obvious, you really have to think to figure it out.
"The Ghoul, The Bat and the Ugly" is also good, and like Nickle98499 said, it's a million Scooby episodes rolled into one.
Some of the worst episodes were:
"Strange Encounters of a Scooby Kind", they've used the alien idea a hundred times, and it gets old after a while, seemed like a re-used idea.
"Rocky Mountain Yiii" was dumb, they've used the whole mountain man at a ski lodge thing before in "Scooby Doo Meets Laurel and Hardy."
"The Ransom of Scooby Chief", I've never seen, but it sounds good. Maybe Boomerang will show it soon.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. It's funny several of you recommeded I Left My Neck In SF. When I read thru the ep descriptions, that one stood out as one I thought I'd be interested in.

Do the one with the snake demon and the one with the minotaur (or the dragon demon or the vampire, or basically any)

I actually liked this series. It was short and that may have saved it. I made a post about the earlier series before realizing where you guys really were in the time line, lol. As you can tell from my Avatar... The Sorcerer's Apprentice is a favorite of mine. The whole series was real good. I loved The Night Ghoul of Wonderworld was real nice. BTW, I still think the whole Case Closed w/Sherlock Holmes in the VR world was inspired by this. The Blue Scarab was great too.

"The Ransom of Scooby Chief", I've never seen, but it sounds good. Maybe Boomerang will show it soon. Now that I've seen "Ransom of Scooby Chief," I think it was actually one of the worst Scrappy episodes, due to it being plot-thin. Btw, ahkyahnan, what did you think of the rest of the 1979 episodes (assuming you've seen them now)?

Btw, ahkyahnan, what did you think of the rest of the 1979 episodes (assuming you've seen them now)? Sorry Doo, just now saw your question. Had a lot of issues in recent months that have kept me from the board and put me behind on SD:MI episodes too. You know, after watching quite a few 1979 episodes I have to say I like them better than I expected to. There pretty much as good as the preceding 3 seasons, with Scrappy being the only real difference. And he's not as annoying as I remembered him from way back. So yeah I like them. For some reason I had remembered them as almost pushing out most of the gang to focus on Scrappy, but maybe I was confusing/mixing that in with the subsequent shorts that deleted Fred, Daphne and Velma or something. It's funny but my memory of Saturday mornings back in the day seems to have been jumbled up a bit. Apparently I must've quit watching toons for a while and then came back, because I always remembered the first Scrappy season as being the 3rd season overall, directly after the New Movies. So a very pleasant surprise when I started getting back into all this a few years ago to find that there were a whole 40 episodes in the WAY? style that I had never seen and didn't know existed!!! Way cool. Mark

Hmm, in my opinion, the best three are: Lock the Door, It's a Minotau!r: Since it's et in Greece and I'm Greek myself, I loved it, although the legend doesn't say anything about a talking Minotaur!!!! Rocky Mountain Yiiiii!: The first time I watched it was Christmas 2010, and it really got me into the Xmas mood. The Scary Sky Skeleton: Like Doo says above, cool never-before-used villain idea.
I don't have a 'worst episodes' list, there are though some episodes I was kinda bored of... But one thing's for sure, those episodes are the best with Scrappy.

I would recommend San Francisco for the fun plot and mystery. Demon of the Dugout for the cool location. Rocky Mountain is good but cliche. And Minotaur has always been a personal favorite of mine a si love Greek mythology
