Did it ever occur to you that Mystery Incorported is just like a published fan fiction?
The big thing is: Fred Jones isn't Fred Jones anymore at the end of season 1 he was revealed to be somebody elses child.

Perhaps, but I do have a theory about the name change thing. I don't think the name change is gonna stick and we'll find out in season 2 that Fred's last name really is Jones.

Did it ever occur to you that Mystery Incorported is just like a published fan fiction? Hmm, "The Looney Tunes Show" also seems just like a published fan fiction. I think that show should dump the existing Groundlings/improv writers for the next season, and just bring in the SD:MI writers. They seem to do a MUCH better job anyway.

It explains the shipping, awkward plot changes e.g. Fred's identity, "gritty" tone and Scooby's bizarre backstory.

It's supposed to be a love letter to all things Scooby but it sure feels more like a bad fanfic. This always happens when you offer someone a chance to do something new with a series everyone gets reduced to their core elements (i'm looking at you Super Friends and Winx season 5) instead of developing a new angle of an established trait (reductions as Fred's trap obsession, Velma is a geek, Daphne's fashion obsession, Shaggy's food fun, Scooby talks, Vince is a celebrity, Scrappy's hated, Flim Flam is the oddball conkid that is apparently more liked than Scrappy)
