I'd have to say... We do that one! We put it ON THE ISLAND... Remember the GI Movie. Thurston Howel set up a resort on the island! Solve a mystery there. Also great fodder for Scooby Doo Coast to Coast

So, my question here is... How to get the gang there... After the first live action movie, they're gonna be wary of free tickets... Xover again with The Harlem Globetrotters by having them go on vacation to see the globetrotters on this posh resort island. .The trotters get them free tickets to it to hook up with old friends? Or we pull the Blakes know the Howell's gimmick.

I think the gang starts off on vacation, and they get shipwrecked on the island when the monster attacks them and damages their boat.

Gilligan's Island didn't make it across the Atlantic so I'll just stand in the corner next to the nacho's to keep them safe from Shag and Scob.

Oh, if anything, GI and Scooby Doo were kissing cousins in some ways. Diva Red Head, Check. Homlier more down to earth brunette everyone 'likes' better. check Bob Denver, Check Masculine Strong leader who pilots the vehicle, Check Braniac science wiz , Check Rich Older couple (Howells and the Blakes) check. Native islanders, voodoo tikis, angry island volcano, and infrequent bad guys for a cowardly duo to run away from (Gilligan and the skipper often, though usually Gilligan just got the running away part and he'd make it back to the villiage to warn everyone else of what's wrong).
Fred is the Skipper but also has the Professor's looks and trap making ingenuity. Shaggy IS Gilligan, there's NO DIFFERENCES except his dog isn't with him Daphne IS Ginger Grant, little or no differences Velma IS both the Professor and Mary Ann, though the professor was the Ladies Man. There was no Scooby, though Gilligan did frequently have a Monkey as a foil. The Howells, though not related to Ginger Grant, function as the Blakes, particularly later when they create a resort out of the island and make everyone else silent partners.
There were Russian Cosmonauts, Wrong Way Wainright, Nearby Island Natives and their Angry Volcano, and various other passers by who would never take them off the island to work as the villains.

Well, for 1972 original movies, I also thought of Flip Wilson or Jerry Lewis, Peter Graves from Mission Impossible, the Osmonds or Jackson 5 only because they had cartoons of their own and would've made logical crossovers, the Partridge Family or Brady Bunch. Someone from Dark Shadows could've been pretty cool, but I'm not sure how many kids would've been familiar enough with them. I would add KISS but they didn't come out until 1974. If I ever had the chance to talk to the producers of The New Movies, I'd love to ask them who else they had in mind but couldn't get, and what guest stars almost happened but then fell through or didn't have time. And if there were any stars who asked to be on an episode but then couldn't for some reason. BTW, for a rebooted version I think Monk would be great. I could see something scary happening and Scooby jumping up in his arms. You know how he is about touching and animals. And not to mention Shaggy & Scooby's eating habits and crumbs lying around all over the place. And Shaggy's clothes being all messy. Would drive him nuts! He'd probably love Velma though. Mark Monk would have been funny.

The trick would be coming up with characters with mysteries to solve...

Heck no, i love Basil, but I personally would love to see animators have to mimick that glimmering childlike smerk Jeremy Brett was capable of. Brett deserves more tributes. It gives me thoughts of the interactions i'm planning for Doo and Dum with Barnabas in the Dark Shadows crossovers.
